Project X vs Project X LZ

Hello All

I am looking for a set of T150.  The stock shaft is PX LZ which I used in T100S and hit them fine.  

I also played Ap2 (716 i think) With Normal PX 6.0 and LOVED the feel.  I probably hit them better than any irons ever.

 

What are the differences between the 2 shafts?  Flight characterics? PX feels better to me but want to make sure im not losing too much launch and spin going to standard PX.

The LZ has a bit more feel to it, but if u are somebody who really loads the shaft that may not be something you want. I gamed PX 6.0’s for a number of years and switched to LZ’s 2 years ago. The bend profile is a bit different between the 2, but not everyone can notice the difference in feel.

To me, the feel is pretty similar.  The only way I was able to tell a difference were the specs from the launch monitor.  LZ went a tad bit further with slightly lower spin, which is weird because I think standard PX is supposed to spin less.  Could have just been the way I was swinging it that day....

The EI profile of the LZ is substantially softer which generally translates to higher launch/spin for most. 
 

Below are frequency measurements from Titleist and as you can see even at a flex lower the PX is noticeably stiffer than the LZ.

They don’t feel at all similar to me. PX Rifle is my favorite but LZ is also a nice shaft and is friendlier on the body. LZ feels like the iron shaft version of a blueboard mid-bend profile me. 

 

PX Rifle is a solid feeling shaft people love or hate. I loved the feel from the first time I hit it. On pro tours the Rifle is the more popular. I don’t get fixated on flex with the Rifle because all are pretty stiff. I fit into the 6.0 but play the 5.5 for better feel and it’s great.

Much more feel in the LZ with the softer mid, much higher ball flight as well.  I swing hard and aggressively so your experience might be different

I recently make the switch to the LZ from PX, both in 6.0.  I got a practice 7 iron (620 CB with LZ 6.0) and hit it for weeks before I committed.

 

I get that the LZ feel less harsh and does feel "friendlier," but I don't get all the people saying the feel so different and feel much softer, including wanting to go up a flex.   They feel like a little more accessible PX to me.  If you like PX and should like the PX LZ, or at least like it more than other shafts from a familiarity perspective.  

 

While everyone on WRX is over here saying "they play soft and to go up a flex," Adam Scott is an x100 player and he plays the 6.5 in the LZ.

 

Just my opinion, but I think the message that these are soft , PX players won't like the LZ, and that you have to go up a flex is just a little much.  If you like the PX and want to stick with it, that's cool.  Clearly, lots of PGA guys have stuck with the original.  But as a regular person I kind of like the LZ and what it offers, while still allowing the advantages of the PX line in general.

After two months with the LZ, I hit some of my clubs with standard PX 6.0.  Wow did I hit them well.

 

Nothing at all against the LZ but the regular PX feels powerful, solid and straight.  Even hitting a 4 iron, I was really really enjoying the regular PX.  

 

I don't think I would change a thing about my original post, just currently appreciating how good the regular PX 6.0 plays.
