Ping 10K vs Taylormade Qi10

Has anyone hit the 10K vs the core model Qi10?

I had a chance to demo both of them with my fitter last weekend.  I preface these comments with the fact that I have always struggled with TM drivers for whatever reason. 

 

I did put up a 10-12 shot  grouping with my current gamer before any of the tests, and was hitting it very well for me.  It's a Ping G430 set as 9* and 1* flat.  Longest carry was just under 240 and average was in the 232ish range.  All numbers from Trackman and felt very good about my driver at that time.  Ball speeds in the low to mid 130's but I did feel that I was centering it as best i could.  Miss is low and toe side, and there were certainly some of those in the grouping, but it was a good average for me.  

 

I tried both the Max and the Cor version and the Cor version was the better of the 2.  SS in the 95ish range and ballspeeds in the 133-138 range.  Taking 10-15 drives with the COR and looking at the dispersion both front to back and left to right - it was OK, but not great.  The Max was no better and spin on the max crept up a little too much for me even with the 95 SS so I had some distance loss on the max vs the cor, and the dispersion wasn't any tighter.  Neither of them beat my current gamer, and if I remember correctly they were actually a little worse.  But I did mention that TM and I have not got along for some time.

 

Then moved on to the Ping 10K and the results were rather eye opening.  Picked up 5-7 yards of carry on average over my current.  Ave carry was 240, with most of them falling between 238 and 242.  The front to back dispersion was just amazing for me.  Same Tour 65 R shaft in both my gamer and the 10K.  The left to right dispersion was also much improved.  I am not one to make quick $600 decisions, but I had my fitter order it on the spot.  Even my buddy who was with me, was quite surprised.  

 

The claim that the spin on the 10K is down a bit from the 430 max allowed me to also increase the loft by 1* to get a little better launch (remember i did say that i sometimes hit it on the low side) without any issues with spin going up.  The fitter who is a very good friend also, said that in his shop the 10K is pretty much outperforming everything, and the only people not buying it have issues with the turbulator look, or the sound, or are brand fans of TM, Callayway, etc.

I tried both on Trackman at Golf Galaxy twice.  I had to hit the 10.5 Ping turned down to 9.75 to try and keep the spin down (rather have just hit a 9 degree, but they did not have that in left hand).  I just could not get along with it consistently either day.  That is not to say it was bad, just inconsistent especially distance wise.  I tried the PING Alta and KaiLi White shafts (because that is what they had).  The TaylorMade however the first day while it spun too much with a 10.5 and a Tensei Blue, I went back and they had a 9 degree with Ventus Blue 5s and oh man I was impressed.  I hit some really nice drives and actually spun a little too low with that combo (1800ish) at times with a 103 swing speed which is about average for me.  
 

I am probably going to another golf store and see if I can find a 9 degree Ping, and try the TaylorMade in another shaft to bring the spin up a touch.  I am leaning towards the TaylorMade as it delivered the longest drive either day (I also brought my Paradym to compare against to make sure the numbers were not too juiced).  I will also say I do NOT typically get along with TaylorMade drivers especially starting with Twist face models, but there is something special about the Qi10 Max.
 

Both were very forgiving, not miraculous every time but there were a few I hit with both and I was shocked how well they turned based on the strike.
