Buying LAB golf from canada

Im very interested in the Df3. If i go with the custom one and without an exotic shaft, with the exchange rate, it get around 800$ cdn. I am wondering what will be the cost of passing through canada with our taxes. 
 

Will i pay nearly 1000$ for something i never hold in my hand? Can any canadian who bought one can share his/her experience?

I haven't bought a LAB but you can expect to pay 18% duties and you provinces taxes along with any handling fees on top of the putter price.

 

So yeah, $1000 is pretty accurate

Yes. I would say no matter what you do, you will end up paying the "taxes" on that purchase.  Your best bet is to buy used locally no matter what. 

 

I would recommend rolling the putter anywhere you can get your hands on it before commiting to pay that much.

If LAB marks it as made in USA, which I believe is correct,  there won’t be any duty.  Just Canadian sales tax and brokerage fees.

Good point. I'm not sure where they are made. My guess would be made overseas and assembled in USA.

yes... at least one more time.   From the LAB website: All L.A.B Golf putters are manufactured and assembled in the USA.

I think they use UPS Worldwide Expedited to ship to Canada with no brokerage fees.  Using standard UPS can carry huge brokerage fees

I’ve ordered 2 and it was shipped expedited UPS both times so no brokerage.

I just did a mock order on the website and the only shipping option was FedEx expedited. Anyone know if there are brokerage fees?

I have bought several direct from lab. While this may be unique and not the case for you, I have paid no duty (made in USA) and paid about $34 in taxes last time; not sure why. It has cost me almost nothing. This may change so I'd plan to pay $100+ but generally it has been closer to $20-$40 each time.

I agree Golf Vault looks like the best place in Canada to get a LAB putter.  They have most

models in stock, with some having color options. When the OZ.1i launched I did a online search to buy

one in Canada and Golf Vault game up. Wanting to pay cdn $ and avoid the duty/extra fees Fedex likes to charge. I ordered a custom one through them, used a 5% discount code for signing up.  They have great customer service so far, sending multiple emails to confirm everything.  I'm waiting patiently now for it to come...

Yeah they're good I've bought a travel bag, pair of shoes, and a few dozen balls from them. I've also been to their actual shop so they are as legit as they come.

Bought from GolfVault. Seemed like the only place with one actually in stock. It shipped out within 2 hours of ordering. 

 

I emailed pretty much every single retailer that showed up in a Google search for "LAB DF3 Canada". All of them either never responded or would just submit my order to LAB on my behalf. Was considering a custom order but cannot stomach a potential 8+ week wait before it shipped (and then another ~2 weeks in transit from the US).

Not sure... ordered my custom OZ.1i in early January, probably have another 4-6 weeks to wait.  I can give an updated when I get it. I'm hoping not as I paid Golf Vault directly with appropriate taxes.  It will ship directly from LAB to me which makes me wonder if Fedex will add some extra processing fee that makes no sense.  I'm hoping this is similar how it works when buying from PXG in Canada, it ships from Arizona with Fedex and I have never been charged anything extra...

Anything coming from a Canadian business like PXG Canada (BC) or Golf Vault (Kitchener Ontario) the taxes are already paid when you do the invoice and nothing extra is owed.  Ordering directly from LAB UPS adds their broker fees in and the duty on the amount that LAB declares on shipment

Update... My custom Oz.1i was delivered today! Lab shipped it directly to Golf Vault, they 

received it on March 5, Exactly 8 weeks from when I ordered. Then Golf Vault shipped it to me the next day and I got it March 11, 1 day shy of 9 weeks. There was no extra charges when delivered.

Total cost was the amount I paid when I ordered through Golf Vaults website.  I'm very happy I ordered through them.

 

It looks amazing!! The cappuccino color looks so good in person (darker then the picture show)

Thanks for the update. I ordered my custom DF3 with Golf Vault on Feb 24th after reading this thread and have been wondering how it'd be arriving. Based on your experience I'm hoping that mine should be arriving in another 2 weeks.  Did Golf Vault give you a heads up that they were shipping it your way? I'm paranoid they're just gonna leave it on my door step, haha.

Yes, Golf Vault sent me a email when it shipped form them with tracking. They shipped it with Fedex
