The Hoka of golf shoes?

I find a good pair of supportive insoles will make almost any pair of golf shoes work.

Look at the Asics golf shoes.  I'm considering a pair, I've worn nothing but Asics running shoes for years and their golf shoes look like running shoes with spikes.

I tried the new balance mentioned at the beginning as well as the cuaters. Cuater's were way too narrow, and i just didnt dig the NB's that much. (NB running shoes are my daily shoes FWIW).

 

Gonna try out some SQAIRZ. Unsure why but cant commit to Payntr.

just moved to Hoka as my everyday shoe due to foot issues. I am in SQAIRZ for golf but I still have some issues swinging and it causing issues on my trail toe. Is there a golf shoe like the Hoka with a rigid rocker sole that could work for golf? I found a spikeless one from Orthofeet but it doesn’t look to have much rocker.

You know, in my last round i forgot my golf shoes and was wearing my worn down new balances with ortho inserts and i shot great. A little of slippage but learned to flare my feet more to compensate. Maybe golf shoes are all overrated heh

I'm on the opposite side of this equation, I suppose. Had some left knee and ankle issues a couple of years ago. After a few trips for various evaluations from an orthopedist, she settled on my never wearing thick cushioned shoes again....of any kind. Anything closer to zero-drop with much thinner cushioning and a wider toe box. I've worn mostly Adidas since I was a teenager for everyday wear and golf. Ultraboost for everyday and S2G's and Tour360's for golf.

 

I've pretty much worn nothing but Trues for the past two years as a result. My knee and ankle are perfectly fine now. No treatment, no surgery, just a change in shoes. She found nothing structurally wrong with my knee and had seen cases in the past where too much cushioning allowed for too much lateral motion in the ankle and knee. Considering I walk about 95% of my rounds, I've also noticed less soreness/stiffness in my legs and back after rounds. Probably not a solution for everyone but its worked like a charm for me.

 

Now, if I can find something suitable for everyday wear......

I haven't tried those. I'll give them a look for everyday. I'll stick with True's for golf. I bought two pair in 2023 and they are still going strong. Considering I walk more than 100 rounds a year, that's a testament to their durability.

You can never go wrong with Ecco's. If they fit your feet they are great shoes. I have had good success with Olukai. Very comfortable. I have planar fasciitis, and have found the squares shoes to also be very comfortable.

I've been wearing the GFore MG4+ and I really like it. Walked 18 this past weekend and my feet were feeling good after. They have these nubs in their sole that definitely make it comfortable. I'm planning to grab a few more pairs during their next big sale, I think they look pretty good and I would wear them casually since they're so comfortable.

I just got fit in to Hoka Govita 5. I am an 11.5 there, my Sqariz are an 11 and fit me. Adidas I am 11.5 also. YMMV

Just got some speedgoat 6 myself, fit true to size for me (10.5 normally, ordered 10.5). I will say they're the best shoes i've ever got in this genre, they feel unreal. I haven't tried them for golf, is that your plan? I wonder how that would work given they have a bit of height to the sole.

I can’t imagine trying to wear Hoka’s on the course. Firstly, so much foam you’d be standing so high. Secondly, ZERO lateral support. Hoka’s are primarily running/walking shoes. Straight lines. 
 

When I accidentally wear my Hoka’s to TopGolf, I’m really happy they have the nets in front of the hitting area to catch people. The lateral support of the Hoka’s on the follow through is non-existent. YMMV.

Agreed, maybe I am a head case but even my set up would be thrown off being so much taller. That being said I rip shots in my backyard with flip flops often so maybe I'm overthinking it lol

Hoka Speedgoats are a Trail Running shoe... so not sure why people pretend golfing is special when people are running up and down mountains on that terrain, which require A LOT more support than just going in straight lines.

 

Vijay is wearing is wearing Tecton... so clearly it isn't insane to do.
