Haven't heard anything here.  I've been playing the 2022-2023 Vice Pro model and love it.  This is something you may find interesting and I may try!

I’ve been playing the Pro Plus 2020 version, and their ball fitter keeps recommending me for this ball despite my thinking that I need either the Pro or Pro Plus.
 

Also, two videos I’ve seen have me intrigued by this ball because since it spins a little less, it’s longer off driver/irons, but the wedge spin isn’t a terrible drop off.

He was very very high on the tour. Those spin numbers weren’t terrible. It might be worth a try….

50deg wedge: 700rpm more spin than previous model.

Agreed! I have been playing the Pro Plus for about 6 months and have really liked it; it does everything I need.  I've been trying to decide whether to try to buy lots of the old version models cheaper moving forward or to try out the new ones...it's just hard to commit to 5 boxes to get the deal when I know so little about the new models.

Previous gen Pro Plus is still in my rotation of balls.  It's the most similar to the '19 TP5x, IMO.  Lower launch/spin which is what I need.  I don't need more spin with wedges so I think I may forgo the '24 Pro Plus.

Right there with you both here! I'm really hoping some actual testing reports come in at some stage to get a real gauge of performance. The previous gen might go cheaper now to clear the decks for the new model? Buying one box in Australia isn't particularly cost-effective to do my own testing unfortunately!!

I've played the Pro for years, love it, but the ball selector tool gave me Pro Air. I can afford to lose a little spin in exchange for distance, so it could work nicely.

 

$37.50 per dozen after tax + ship if I buy 5 - not really the deal they used to be. Might hold off and wait for a sale or a free dozen promotion.

The Vice ball fitting tool has me fit into the Vice Tour.  It used to fit me into the Vice Pro 🤷‍♂️

I've got a bunch of the Lime 23 Vice Pro Plus balls and have noticed the paint of the ball is getting chipped off after maybe 10 shots.

 

 

• Anyone else experienced this?
• Does this happen to the white balls?
• Is this still happening with the 2024 balls?

I haven’t played the yellow, but nothing even close to that has ever happened to the white pro plus balls I’ve played. 
 

For me, the white Pro Plus is an absolute tank and is among the most durable I’ve ever played.

Thanks for that. I guess I gotta just stick to the white balls as these chips in the paint would surely effect performance as they are maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the depth of an iron groove.

Vice colors are surface paint. What you’re seeing is normal. When you cut a cover, as in your image, the paint is essentially scraped aside, and the appearance is often worse than a white model.

 

Higher-price balls, such as the yellow V1 family, either mix the color components with the cover material or dye-sublimate it. I don’t know which. They would not have the appearance you’re showing.

1. Nope.

2. Nope.

3. Good question, but my bet is that the new ones are still just as durable as the previous gen. 

 

Maybe you got a bad ball or something.  Previous gen Pro Plus is bullet proof and they usually last me at least 2 rounds.

I have similar experiences with the old model Pro Plus in lime. And as someone already mentioned, it's because of how the covers are painted. I switched to a completely different brand because I couldn't stand the look of a mauled ball.

I have switched to the new Pro Plus Shade and it’s a great ball, if you like a semi-firm feel. 
It‘s pretty durable and spins just right for me.

Boy! I have a bunch of questions about the new ball!  I currently game the Vice Pro.  Love the ball.  Saw one review on the new Vice Pro and have questions for anyone who has played them. 

What I've heard:

1. Ball speed increased

2. Not very forgiving on toe or mishits.  The ball speed drops with a good loss of distance.  You have to be a consistently good ball striker to play the new version.  I'm playing to a 14 hcp. but don't think I'm consistent enough a ball striker.  Considering the Vice Tour since they improved that ball tremendously based upon the two reviews I've seen on them.

3. High spin in the chipping and pitching - one hop and stop or zip back at you kind of spin. 

 

Has anyone played the new Pro?  Is forgiveness on mishits similar to the 2022-2023 model?

My driver SS hovers in the 95ish area and I carry around 220-225 on average.  Is that too slow for the Vice Pro Plus, if anyone has any experience with that.

I went through 6 dozen Pro Plus shade last year, and never saw one instance of that. The only time the paint came off was when I hit a cart path.

Might be your wedges, though? I just picked up a 64° Jaws Raw wedge, and noticed it left some marks on my Yellow Maxfli Tours. My Fourteen wedges do not damage the balls at all.

I play the normal pro green and their drip and have never scuffed it this bad. You have had to hit something or you scruffed it with some non optimal wedge shots.

I feel like the new Pro is a bit softer and I don’t fancy that. Spin around the greens is the same as before, but I see a difference with the Pro Plus and switched to that, for now. 

Distance is not better or worse in my experience. 

Forgiveness: have never heard of this being better or worse depending on the ball! Mishits are mishits. 

Swing speed: the Pro should work for you no problem.

Saw that video last night. I have 5.5 dozen of Vice Pro and 4 dozen Maxfli Tour. I can't justify another golf ball purchase.

I hear that! I have so many golf balls I feel like I could convince people I own a factory!

 

That said, I am looking for some verifiable data showing any changes in spin/Distance between the new and previous Pro/Pro+. Love both balls, but I can't fathom that they could improve them that much above their already fantastic performance (IMHO).

Previous gen Pro Plus is outstanding.  I still have 3 boxes left.  It's the lowest launching and spinning urethane ball for me.  Very similar to the '19 TP5x.  Word is that the new gen is a bit faster ball speed wise and that they spin a bit more with wedges.

I just ordered the new Pro Plus. Will test them against both prior generations when they come in. Feel wise, I like the 1st generation, but the 2nd generation is longer and firmer. Hopefully these will me a nice mixture of both previous generations.

That's why I'm looking forward to actual data. I'll pick up a box at Walmart at some point, but I've got enough golfballs to keep me from buying for quite some time. My previous compulsion was to basically buy when something new came out. I'm trying to break that habit at this point, saving more for retirement, future grandkids and the like. I like the previous version so well I can't fathom that a new ball is going to impact my game to any great degree, so currently that's helping curb my impulse for now. I know, complete blasphemy among WRXers!
