2024 Vice Golf Balls

I'm gaming the 2024 Vice Tour.

I've played the previous Tour as well as previous version of the Pro Plus.

The Tour is a marked improvement over the last version, not as good as the PP but for price the differences aren't that huge. I'm not the best player (especially short game lol) with a low 80s scoring average and the occasional sub 80 round. If I was a more skilled player I might consider the extra cost of the PP worthwhile but the Tour works just fine for my game.

Here across the pond, low to mid 80's is better than 85% of the golfers.  LOL.  For me, the Pro has a touch too much check on chips, at times I'm looking to roll a bit more.  I'm more concerned about stopping from 75 yards out.  Are you going to be able to hold a green with a 5H or 7 iron?

Anyone know how long the current deal might last? I love a good sale but I’m not sure I want to drop $211 today to maximize the sale right now. Understandably that $211 is the same whether it’s now or in a week or two, just curious on how long I might have to think about it.

I see some apparel also has discount until Aug. 31, I would assume the 20% deal for golf balls is the same but I don’t necessarily see that detail on the mobile site unless I just missed it somewhere.

Pro Plus would be the closest, but higher spin for across the board. Not really any comps for the Left Dash in the market.

That's what I was thinking too. These will be winter balls and I am torn between ordering Pro or Pro Plus. I played Maxflis last 2 years and thought the softer Tour would be better due to the cooler temps but the Tour X was a much better ball for me.

According to the conforming list, the dimple pattern is still 318 which is Foremost’s house pattern which is promising (given the timing of Vice’s teaser and Taylormade’s recent acquisition of Foremost, was worried that they had been forced to move to a new factory which would have meant a change to TPU).

Exactly what happened to Snell balls.  In my opinion the cast balls are better than the TPU versions, especially for durability.  Can't understand why Vice would still be using Foremost and Snell was kicked to the curb.  Both good ball options to the bigger manufacturers with much better pricing.  Planning to try the Vice Pro as an option.

I just played the Pro Air and for those who have a below 90 swing speed I would highly recommend it. The feel was softer to me than AVX . The spin was good and was very straight.

Snell was never made at Foremost. The CTU MTB balls were produced at Nassau which was acquired outright by Taylormade in late 2021. My understanding is that Taylormade deprioritized all of the white label production in favor of their own needs which they have not done at Foremost (granted the full acquisition of Foremost is fairly recent). By the time Snell decided to leave Nassau, Foremost was not an option since they had already been at capacity for several years (the brands still being produced at Foremost have been established customers for several years).

Basically this was a combination of bad luck and bad timing.

You didn't mention "distance". How was that?

I’m not long at 220-225 average. I did hit this ball 240+ on one hole. The rest were in my average when hit with good contact.

My mistake, I got Foremost and Nassau mixed up.  The point remains however as I recall when TM bought Nassau that they said the DTC balls they made would still be manufactured but that turned out not to  be the case with Snell at least.  I'm wondering if TM will move to oust Vice from the manufacturing?

Taylormade did boot some of the brands that Nassau were manufacturing for (I believe Penfold was one that got an explicit letter), but Snell was not one of them. The problem that Dean faced was that Taylormade was taking up all of Nassau’s capacity so he didn’t know when he would be able to get product again so while he was not explicitly cut off, he had little choice but to move factories if he wanted more product.

We’ll see what happens with Foremost long term, but I can’t imagine Taylormade wanting to risk potential retaliation from cutting off their largest retailer (DSG), so the Maxfli Tour line is probably safe.

Played with the 2024 Pro Plus today. I was shorter than usual by about 5-7% throughout the bag. Not sure whether this is due to the ball or due to my day-to-day swing changes (I put a new swing thought in every round... almost every hole). But the distance loss was noticeable, and I found myself reaching for one extra club. Greens were extremely receptive so it's difficult to comment about iron/wedge spin. Feel off the putter was fine (but the DF3 + Accra shaft makes everything feel soft).

Lost a few balls but didn't notice any durability issues.

I've been playing the Vice Pro for the last few weeks and have been very impressed with that ball. It feels good, spins enough with irons but is also low spin with driver so my distance has been what I expect. I just ordered some of the neon drip Pro Air so I'll see how those compare, if they ever ship. Not sure what's taking so long.

I can now confirm that the issue was in fact my swing, not the balls. I played a couple of rounds over the weekend with a better swing and my yardages were back to the expected distances.

Any updates on the Air? Curious how it compares to the Pro?

In short, I like the Pro MUCH better. To me it performs very similar to the Prov1, for less. I found the Air to spin a bit much with the longer clubs and not enough around the green. It also was not as durable as the Pro. I also bought those green colored, splash ones so maybe thats why they started to scuff easy. I ended with 4 boxes so I have played them a few times and its not completely awful, you just have to play for the roll out on the greens. But if Im buying again, Im going with the Pro.

Has ANYONE tried the new Vice Tour?

I like it quite a bit and would be my go to if it was more durable.  Flies high and straight.  Decent stopping power.  Only last a couple holes before the cover is cut up though so while its fine for a fall ball it won't be my main.  Back to Maxfli Tour S.

I bought a dozen of the Pro Air and have played the ball sporadically. Off the irons, I get excellent distance and spin on approaches, but have found it to be incredibly short off the driver for me compared to other balls. Despite my "old man" swing speed, the Vice ball that continues to perform the best for me is the Pro Plus. I'll stick with that!

I wish they made the Pro in the Pro Plus Shade color. Pro Plus Shade is my all time favorite ball color, but I just don't like the feel off the putter.

What are Vice's better sales? Buy 5 dozen get 1 dozen free? x% off?

Not in a rush, but I am looking to make a jump over to Vice Pro Plus, as it seems like it's the closest to a ProV1.

Pretty simple math, the 6 for 5 deal is a 16.7% discount. So if they offer more than that...

Thanks for the reply, and fortunately I'm fairly good at figuring out percentages.

Unfortunately it's pretty useless for me when I don't know what type of sales they normally have.
