Finding similar club to latest model

My current longest club is a 5w, I play a Taylormade RBZ stiff shaft. It's a light stiff shaft, and my preferred hybrid is a heavier R shaft, and I don't do great adjusting swing between the two. I'm trying to standardize a bit vs. the things I bought when I was just starting out.

 

I tried some fairway wood/shaft combos this week and was finding the new Qi 10 Max 5w was the longest fairway wood I've ever hit, with great dispersion on the Tensei AV Blue 65 stiff. Not sure how to put this but it felt like a very easy shaft to accelerate. I had been considering R shafts recently because I was controlling them better.

 

This club seems to fit very well, but I was looking for a 5w and 7w (or 4w and 7w adjusted -1 deg), and I don't really want to drop $900 on two fairway woods. I was thinking about looking into the previous generation head with the same shaft.

 

I'm wondering how viable that generally is on fairway woods. Thoughts?

You dilemma could be a bit chicken or egg, is it the head or shaft or both? You mentioned the RBZ has a light weight shaft and a little bit of Google research indicates it might be in the 45 gram range compared to the Tensei being in 65 gram range. Buy some lead tape and bring the RBZ shaft total weight up and see your results. If it is heading towards the Qi10, then maybe it is the shaft weight making the difference. If it is, see if you can find a Sim or Sim2 fairway wood with a 65 gram stiff shaft for a comparison. Just my thoughts, good luck in your search for the next fairway wood in your bag.
