Monthly Dues-how how have you seen?

Where I live, dues have been rising dramatically and have basically doubled over the last 18 months. Of the four possible CCs in the area, of the CCs are 18 holes with family amenities and are now in the $950 per month with $250 per quarter minimum on food. These are equity memberships but also have a buy in between $70-110k.

 

I want to know before I join if the dues could be $1500 in 5 years or continue to escalate. At what point is there a limit??

if you are worried about that and $1500 a month would hurt, private golf is not for you. Spend those initiation fees on trips to Ireland, Bandon etc...

Back in my day milk was 25 cents and gas was $.59/gallon!!!

 

Stuff will always go up.  Private clubs are generally not trying to turn a profit.  Basic dues cover operating expenses, and initiation and capital dues are collected for capital projects.  There is some wiggle room but that is the basic plan.

 

Inflation is what it is.  Remember when Subway had a $5 footlong?  Same sandwich is now over $12.

 

Need to assume dues will go up a minimum of 8%/year.  Just do the math.
