dugue4
Anything decent in SW Houston for under $100 for a weekend? My friend usually comes and plays the Northwest side and I'm making the drive next we play, and we are trying to decide where to play. MAROON79
Wildcat Quail Valley Greatwood those all seem to be below $100 for a round on a weekend. not a lot of public courses on the SW side of town these days. there is also Sharpstown and Hermann Park - conditions probably so so.

Unfortunately, OO was sold off to a developer, FC is a Target and Southwick has been abused by multiple owners. GW is a mess thanks to their ownership. I highly recommend never wasting money to play it.
CCTxGolf
That side of houston is so bizarre when it comes to golf. Seems like such a high population for so few quality options.

TM golf guy
Old Orchard was one of my favorites to play at. Southwest area is weird. No golf shops, mostly private clubs, and the few public ones are all rundown these days because of bad ownership. 2 1 Quote Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Max TD 9° Ventus+ Black 6 Callaway Paradym AI Smoke TD 3w Ventus Red 7 Callaway Paradym AI Smoke TD 7w Ventus Red 7 Wilson Dynapower Forged 4-G UST Recoil Dart 105 Wilson Staff Model ZM 56°-12° (Bent to 55°) and 60°-06° Artisan 0124 KBS CT
The Milkman
Played Sharpstown last weekend and it was in the best shape I can ever remember. It must be getting some extra funding help from Memorial or something. Wildcat was in good shape, though I'd say standard for them. But at $110 for a weekend morning I probably wouldn't. On the other hand, I didnt play it, but I've heard Southwyck is in the worst shape people have seen.
dugue4
I ended up playing wildcat and paying over 100. It was a fun course. I had a lot more lost balls than usual though. GolfGuitarsCars
No one ever mentions Sienna (formerly Sienna Plantation) when it comes to SW Houston public courses. Unfortunately it’s owned by the same family (Lopez) as Greatwood and River Pointe so the conditions are the same there. Best public course in that area is Quail Valley in Missouri City. The city owns it and they have no shortage of revenue to maintain it. Harvey couldn't have done the damage the current owners have inflicted on the course. Everything they touch goes to 💩. They tried getting their hands on Quail Valley, but were stopped because the ex-Mayor played the course regularly. From what I've been told, they're in charge of the maintenance department at QV now. So it's just a matter of time before it hits rock bottom as well.
SnowbirdTom
Most of Houston area golf is in horrible shape due to heavy play. I've had opportunity to try many different courses there and very few have impressed me because poor conditions and playing time. The ones that did impress belong to the city itself. Gus and Memorial are the two leading courses. Sharpstown was fun, but it stays pretty wet. Never did get to Hermann Park. I'm back home in Michigan now and even the very cheap courses (under $30 for 18 with cart!) are in better condition than Houston on average.
