Anyone tried the Golf Pride reverse taper grips?

Not those specifically, and not on the putter, but the Enlow Grip reverse taper is a real nice swinging grip. I’m sure the same concept would be nice with the putter.

Just watched that. Interesting. Wonder why we haven’t seen any on tour. Not that it matters what pros play for us amateurs. But you think it would’ve clicked with someone. Then again the season is in full swing and maybe not the time to switch.

Played with the grips today at Dicks. That sounded weird nvm….Salesman said they’re flying off the shelf.

Just got mine in the mail yesterday. Played around with it and will install it this weekend.

 

Kinda wished I got the large version of the pistol instead of the medium but it should be fine.

 

I use a reverse claw grip or left hand low grip and this grip is ideal for both types.

My immediate impression straight out of the packaging is that it absolutely reeks of paint. Very weird. I’m sure it’ll dissipate, but still…

 

The medium round felt best in my hands, though I wish there were actually putters available for testing at the store. I’ll be installing on a Bettinardi BB1W and giving it a good run.

Tried out the flat large variant in Golf Galaxy today.

 

I'm a left-hand-low only guy and I was really impressed by how natural the reverse taper grip felt for me. I switched to conventional grip and everything felt really, really awkward—that is, even more awkward than it normally does for me. But for left-hand-low it felt very organic, very smooth.

Mine still reeks and had it open for a couple of days now lol. Needs to be outside with nature to fully dissipate

Yeah, Golf Galaxy had it installed on a Tommy Armour or Top Flite blade putter.

Installed the medium pistol on one of my putters and can echo what others have said.... this thing smells really bad. 😃

 

Regarding the performance, I am used to smaller grips (Ping PP58 cord and deep etched being my favorites) so this feels a bit lacking in feedback to me. It is a very light grip which I like but not sure it will stay on. I think straight taper would have made for a better grip as I like the upper portion much better. Keep in mind I use a traditional grip, so this could work better for claw, left hand low, etc...

Its bigger.  I found the M size to be closer to a midsize.  I tried both the flat and the pistol, for me they didn't do much.  I'm going back to my Iomic I guess.  They do smell, agree 100% on that.

I'm really enjoying the Medium Pistol, I feel I have much better control over my Wilson Staff TM22. I generally use a standard putting grip (vs LHL, claw etc) & my hands now feel properly spaced.

 

I've only had it for <week so time will tell if it proves itself on the course, but rolling putts indoors I am impressed & will certainly game it. 

 

EDIT: After all the talk of LHL in this thread I decided to give it a shot with the Md Reverse Pistol. Indoor hardwood floor with 10 stimp putting mat/perfect putt cup -- at 8 feet I hit 14/15 putts (pushed the 9th). My usual issue with LHL is distance control but I liked how that felt!

I just installed the medium flat on my Wilson staff model MT22 today. I putt with a regular grip style and so far really like it playing around on the mat. I tried the other two styles at golf galaxy but they just felt too bulky in my hands. I’m used to a regular size grip and the flat felt a little more subtle to me. I really have a tendency to rotate my wrists throughout my stoke and I feel like the combination of the flat sides and thicker lower section helps to keep my right hand more steady. My only real negative would be that I don’t get as much feeling at impact but personally I can kind of learn to get used to that. The grip isn’t so squishy that all feedback is lost it’s just dampened a little. 
 

Also, IT STINKS! nah it isn’t that bad I noticed others mentioned the smell. It does have a strong plastic smell but I’m weird and don’t mind it ha

I bought one and tried for 3 rounds then pulled it.  I use only milled putters with great feel and with the foam grip a lot of that feel is lost.  I had the medium which was a touch big but could have lived with that except for the feel issue.  If they could come out with a rubber grip with the same reverse taper feel they would have something of interest for me but I'm back to the Midsize pp58 Ping grip.

My exact thoughts, I both the pistol and round versions, but yet to game either one, I like rubber grips like their Tour Velvet grips and Pingman, the concept is good just not the feel of the grip.  I still plan to test the grip on that putter, just waiting on an opportunity.

The only thing I have in common with Tiger….. Ping PP58 putter grip.

 

have messed around with lots of others, including fat grips but always return to the pp58, it lets me swing the putter rather than push pull that fat grips seem to promote.

I just put one on my SC Champs Choice (blade).  Similar texture to my SC Matador grip, maybe slightly less sticky.  What really stands out is how pistoled the pistol grip version is.  The top "pistol" section really fits up against my palm nicely.

I have the pistol (med size), played 3 rounds with it and it's coming off tonight. There's no feel/feedback with it. Feels lost in my hands.

PGASS had three putters set up with the grips. Helped a lot to try all three. I like the pistol the most, round next and the flat I did not like. Picked up a pistol medium to try out.
 

I putt with a double underhand grip style (as recommended for BLM Kotahi grips) that has been very good for start lines and accuracy. That style of grip feels natural with the pistol version. Will see how it goes. Could have gotten the small but the medium is a good starting point. They only had a few of these in stock. The demo station is popular.

I put a RT medium flat on a Tad Moore TM-4 that I recently purchased. Took it out yesterday for 9 holes, had 4 one-putts, from 6 to 15 feet, including 3 in a row to start. I use a reverse overlapping grip, feels real natural. Does have a stronger odor, but not much different than most TPU grips.

I bought the large flat and I use a lead hand-high grip with the trail hand in the claw position. Works great for that type of grip. Lots of surface area to place your claw fingers flat on.

Tried all of them today at Golf Galaxy. I am a left hand low. The med pistol felt unreal. Going to get one put and a try it. Coming from a Scotty Pistolero.

I put a Medium Pistol on my Phantom 5.5.  Cut it off after one round with it and went back to my trusty SS Pistol 1.0.

Very solid grip. I like it the feel of it. Definitely does help keep the lower hand a bit less active. Pistol medium is the one I am testing.

The large pistol is perfect for a claw grip. I have it on both my putters now.
