Tiger Woods replica putter

 I put the stepped 35” shaft on with the 25g weights to make it 333g.  I figure that’s light enough even though tiger is at 325g.  And 333 sounds lucky.

Anyway staying on topic…

I was looking at the differences in Newport 2 generations and the special has a lot of similarities to Tigers putter…

offset neck, thin top line, sharp toe angle

I think the closest one in shape might be the pro platinum but it has a bit of a rounded off toe, and it’s not stainless steel I don’t think, so it’s the special that wins the look alike contest I think

Yes.  A late 90s-Early 2000s Pro Platinum Newport 2 is the closest thing a regular guy off the street can get.  But if you want to be really really close to what Tiger is actually using, the putter head has to be made out of German Stainless Steel.

Weston Maughan has two putters, basically identical replicas of Tdub’s putter and an 009, the Highland and Forestdale, respectively. Very high quality milling, and a premium finish too. I don’t think you’ll find anything closer sub 1000$.

Nah...for me a late 90s Pro Platinum.  After all, Tiger's actual SC putter wasn't made in 2002-2004.

Doesn’t matter when it was made. The PP was carbon steel with nickel plating vs the Studio Stainless being 303ss. Between the solid milling (no inserts or adjustable weights), alloy, shape, weight, and face milling the Studio Stainless is closest to Tiger’s GSS.

Tigers has a pretty aggressive tri sole, 2002-2004 newport 2 doesn't have that at all. The studio style with the gss insert is closer to the headshape with the aggressive tri sole, problem is it has an insert and doesn't have a dot on the top line. 

 

It's surprising to me that more retailers haven't released something like Tigers, tri sole, single dot solid head. It's not like they are copyrighted, everyone copy's each other designs. Even when Nike made their method putter for him, it was close but the headshape was pretty massive and clunky in comparison. Too bad, could have been an all time great putter out of Nike.

Never said it was perfect, I just personally prioritize the solid face over the trisole (if that is more important than the insert the Studio Style may be a better choice). There have been some SC limited run/tour issue stuff that has been closer but far less attainable (example below), but I still stand that the Studio Stainless is the closest off the rack retail option.

yea, you have to get into the tour issue SC to find something closer which even on their own are too expensive. Then anything resembling Tigers putter in the tour issue line (dot for sightline, tri sole and solid face) is going to be in the car price territory.

This is probably the closest. Tiger picked up Mark's putter in the late 90's and asked Scotty to make him one.

The PP were nickel plated carbon steel vs 303 stainless steel on the GSS. If we are including SC limited runs, the 2001 Masters Victory GSS is an actual replica of Tiger’s putter so that would likely be closest.

Maybe the shape (Mark’s shape is based on a stainless Ping Anser 2), but not the material (the alloy makes a big difference). Either way, the 2001 Masters Victory GSS is the closest replica of Tiger’s actual putter.

yea, can’t get much closer than that 2001 masters victory gss. I imagine they go for a pretty penny now. 
 

Looks like the 2002-2004 newport 2 does have a slight tri sole so it’s a bit closer than I originally thought. Its sole is very similar to the Newport 2 offered today.

Without remortgaging your house this is the closest and quite frankly the best version of Tigers you can get.
