Nippon gost shaft in 2 and 3 iron. Any reviews.

Looking to go graphite in the 2 and 3 iron this year (Wilson 18 and 21 utilities) and thinking about the nippon gost shafts?  Any reviews of those from this crew out there?

 

for reference I’m playing dg 120 x 100 in 4-pw this season.  Normal a 130gram guy but experimenting this year with 120 gram version and so far so good.  My alternatives for the 2 and 3 irons would be the AMT white x100 or 120 x100.  3 ut iron will be used as an approach club and 2 iron will be most low runners off the tee

Hit one a few times during my hybrid fitting.  It's a stable shaft.  Felt like a stiffer Modus 120.  Touch soft in the handle, firm tip.  I play 105s and it was a tad heavier than I liked, so passed on it.  I ended up liking the RDX Red hybrid shaft fwiw.

 

Id definitely try to hit one first.  They're pretty darn expensive for what they are.

Put one in my iCrossover 2i earlier this week and loving it. Got the 102g x-stiff, and it will be permanently replacing my Ventus Blue 10x. 
 

I fight spin with an AoA -3° with my utility irons and the GOST is the lowest launching/spin of all that I’ve tried

 

Has a little more feel than the Ventus 10x - which always felt dead to me

 

On my BLP, 2i

Swing speed 104-105mph

Launch 10-12°, 150mph BS +- a few depending on strike 

Spin 3500-3800 mostly , can go lower if I turn it over. And the icrossover is def not the lowest spinning utility 

235-245 carry

 

Ventus 10x launched a degree or two higher for me and a few hundred more RPM

 

Ordered another one this AM for my 3i icrossover , lofted up to 21°

The build - T200 2 iron @ 19* degrees loft , with Nippon GOST Tour X shaft (112g) 

 

Compared too - TMB 2i AD DI 105x and TMAG P790 2i Hzdus 100x (pretty much stock set up ) 

 

All lofts 19*

 

GOST VS AD DI 105x , in terms of feel the GOST feels like a lot more stable / Firm ADDI 105x unit the TMB head literally flew off my AD DI shaft was by far the oldest club i had that was actively in the bag.   

 

GOST vs Hzdus 100g x , after the TMB broke , and I was in morning of the club loss , I picked up a TMAG P790 2i w hzdus 100g x .    I have been pleasantly surprised by this combo, in both performance and ease of use.   The head its produces some NASTY ball speeds off the face, 240 into a cool windy texas day , the ball penetrated through the air toward the par 5 green.     One of the few OEM combo's ive ever bought that you could used right out of the box.   

 

Anyway , GOST vs Hzdus 100g x , the GOST definitely launches higher , while you can produce a stinger style shot with the GOST, it wants to launch the in the air.   If you just want tee rocket , the hazdus would fit that bill , but the GOST shaft really gives some versatility to my 2 iron set up.    It did take me some getting used to the profile difference of the GOST VS HZDUS. 

 

The GOST tour X weighs out at 112g , which when going graphite with the ADDI 105x and Hzdus, the 2 iron swing weights have been pretty light, the heavier GOST makes the build feel solid. 

 

 comparison of the two heavy weights  , the TMAG 790 , might slightly edge out the the T200 in ultimate Ball speed on good strike to good strike, but the head forgiveness of the T200 cannot be over looked, if you bang one out on the toe with the t200 / GOST, one i thought would have been very very poor where actually not bad.   The TMAG doesnt offer that forgiveness in the my TMAG 790 head 2021 series (i think ) .  

 

The T200 with GOST is firmly in the bag , especially with the forgiveness factor of 9 , and doing a great job of being a tee bomber and fairway master.     Albeit cost is a deflating factor here, I think I bought the whole package of TMAG 790 2i with hzdus for what I the GOST shaft cost me.   Could I put the TMAG 790 back in the bag and play it, and not think twice, absolutely.

Should have really added a summary 

 

ad di 105 x feel and launch , profile fits for a touch more aggressive swing , with the penetrating flight of the p790 hzrdus 100x .   
 

spin I’ll need to report back on , I hadn’t really paid that close attention too was checking launch and BS , I want to say they where in the 3500 range
