Ai smoke max 7/9 wood? Struggle to find demo heads.

Hello. 
 

Have been wanting to replace the 4i spot in the bag and has been looking at 7 woods for approach, problem is that they are slightly hot and shaft options are bad. 
 

I got to demo a AI TD 20° with a 70g shaft and it was pretty good but comparing it to the 5 iron its abit hot. 
 

Tried Darkspeed X and got nice number, however they only offer 70g shaft and thats too light when driver is 67g. It had good flight and good numbers. Darkspeed is out just because shaft weight, huge miss by Cobra not offering anything over 75g in all woods. 
 

Now Ive called around but noone has a 7/9w ai smoke max, or any 7 wood for that matter. 
 

Anyone hit the AI Max/TD against eachother in atleast 5 wood or up? Kinda sucks having to buy it blind but seems like no options left.

Is buying an aftermarket shaft an issue or something? I'm a bit lost here.

Yes, I would prefer not spend twice the amount if there are options available. Fitters just doesnt seem to carry the options.

 

Ai smoke max is an option but Ive only hit the TD head which went too far. 
 

23° is only available as Max so Im wondering if there is much difference in the heads at this loft.

I don’t think distance will be much different in the max.  I just ordered a 7wood max with Ventus blue 6s shaft (non velecore) no upcharge and says 5-7 days.  I have the tripe diamond driver, max 3 wood, set at 16*.  The max is just a breeze to hit, best 3 wood I’ve ever hit, hoping the 7 wood is as good.  But unlike you I’m hoping to get a little extra distance.  I’m hoping it’s goes close to my 19* hybrid.  Just more height.

Sounds pretty good. For me they all went pretty similiar, initially settled for an 22.5 Darkspeed X but since they dont carry heavier UST shaft I jumped off the deal. I wanted a heavier shaft since driver is 67g and its an approach club, 75g felt too light. Thats why Im eyeing the Callaway, 23 loft and 89g shaft might bring it back a few yards so its a 15-16y gap on the 5i and not a 25y.

Makes sense, I just changed driver shafts to a 5s vanquish but now I’m thinking I’ll stick with my 6s Ventus and that’s gonna make the 7 wood shaft light, might should’ve gone with the 7s in that.   I’m still carrying a 4 iron, which in the apex pro is a really nice club.   I hit the hybrid about 225, if the 7 wood goes 215-220 I’ll be pretty happy with it.  If it’s 200 it’ll be in the classifieds.

I struggled to find one as well, and end up just bought the 7 wood (after I got fitted into ai smoke 4 wood) without fitting on their website, which says 30 days money/credit back guarantee. 

 

Also you can demo a club for 14 days for $35 at global golf.
