Skycaddie sx400 Touchscreen Issues and Heat

My sx400 periodically develops a very insensitive touchscreen where (for example) selecting an option might take 5 or 6 touches. I had chalked this up to age related degradation. But my device lives on a holder on my push cart in full sun. And the problem seems more common on hot/sunny days. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have not experienced it with my Skycaddie but I have a number of times with my iPhone. I left it in my car center console with the hot Georgia summer sun. When I got back to the car and pulled out my iPhone, it displayed a message that it was too hot and needed to cool down before it could be used.

I just spoke with Sky Golf about this.. They claim that is is a battery protection mechanism to prevent the battery from over-heating. Nothing can be done. I cover my SX400 with a towel in warm weather, but it still really doesn't help much. If the temp is above 80 degrees, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive.

Seems like a design problem for a device that is meant to be used outdoors in sunny weather. Not a good choice for warm climates. I've go to say, as much as I like the SkyCaddie product, this seems like a big problem....

OP here, BTW. In the summer I just leave my SX400 in the 'junk bag' of my pull cart. I have converted to using Shotscope for shot tracking so 95% of my distance measuring is either laser or the very basic info that I get from my Shotscope H4. I probably pull the SX400 out 3-4 times per round (typically for layup or carry distances unrelated to the green). I have not noticed an issue when I keep it 'in the shade'. But I really don't use it much.
