From what I remember he battled a right oblique injury from like 2020-2022 and has basically been grinding ever since.  He withdrew from Q-School last year after a few rounds.  I think he's playing on a past champion category but it's very low in terms of priority for getting into events as he's only played in 4 this year, with the best being a T18 in the Dominican Republic.  He really needs a good finish this week to have any chance of keeping his card.

It's not a proper tournament thread unless @MattyO1984creates it. All others are just "line steppers" and should refrain...😂

I went yesterday for about 7 hours, and it was a perfect weather day.  As good as they get up here.

 

I'd never seen the course before, but it is gorgeous.  Way more elevation changes than I expected, and the greens are big and have a ton of slope and challenging runoffs.  Hard to see a good place to hit your approach on some, and the putts are really tricky.

 

Followed Rory, Nick Taylor and Taylor Pendrith group for 8 holes.  Rory's approaches were consistently tighter, no wonder he's ranked so high.  Felt sorry for Nick Taylor as the defending champ and 1st Canuck in a million years to win his home championship.... and all the cheers were for Rory.  Pendrith was fun to follow and chat with his parents - his dad and I were good pals in grade 6 in 1967, but their family moved away.  Small world!

 

Driving home I made 3 resolutions:  1) watch it on TV, 2) book a game ASAP, and 3) pour myself a Caesar.  There were Matt & Dave's Caesars all over the place, and I had a 90 minute drive home and couldn't have one...
