Wish I had seen the final hole - our CBS Tournament feed in Austin disappeared at 5:30 PM CST on the nose ... no pick up by Golf Channel or any other network ... WTF?

I don’t know if anyone else caught this, but being an old dad who raised two kids, something small that happened during the tournament cracked me up.  On 8 or 9 today, MacIntyre was in the fairway and when he pulled his yardage book out of his back pocket, a tee fell out on the ground behind him.  A pro caddie, 9 times out of 10 would have bent down and picked it up.  But since his caddy was his Dad, his Dad just pointed at it as if to say ‘pick it up son’.  😂

Griffin played great, but man, he needs to lose that two sizes too small hat.  It seems that some of these golfers don’t look in the mirror before they head out in the morning.

Was it windy?  Sometimes here what appears to be smog can be dust in the air.  We can still occasionally get smoggy but not usually nearly as bad as it was 25-30 years ago.

Could have been dust.  It just made the entire valley look like it was covered by a brown cloth.  It was also the worst allergy weekend of my entire life.  Somethin’ was in the air.

MacIntyre looked like he'd barely had any regular sleep in weeks on top of having some weirdness of a clean shaven face and neck but a 10 o'clock shadow under his chin. 

 

Add that to not being from a place that's big on fitness and you'll look a little rough. Guy's clothes always seem to be in good shape, so he's got that going for him. 

 

In other news, Rory dropped yet another endorsement for his unofficial theme song.

Amateurs watch the pros closely and imitate this glacial behavior.  This is one of the reasons golf takes so long.

 

I took some putting lessons a few years back, and the pro I was working with was a believer in using the line on the ball to line up the putts.  The problem was, in order to get that really right, I had to bend down line it up, then check it with my putter, then stand up and make sure it was straight, if not, realign it, etc.  I tried using it for about three holes and ditched it.  Took way too much time and wasn’t fair to my playing partners.  I’m a believer in using my feet to feel slope and confirm what I’m seeing with my eyes, but it only takes a few seconds and I do it when my partners are busy either marking their balls or doing their reads.

 

Now if we could just get 20 handicaps to stop shooting the flag with their rangefinders from 60 yards, and stop waiting for the green to clear to take their second shot when they’re closer to the tee box they just hit driver off of than they are to the green they think they can hit with a six iron.

Can a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup please?  Hockey should not exist south of the Mason-Dixon line.  If you can't play on a pond outdoors it's not hockey country!

Unfortunately, if hockey never caught on south of the Mason Dixon line (or below that lattitude at least) the NHL would probably be broadcasting on the CW right now.   Many of the most successful U.S. hockey franchises are in the southern half of the U.S.
