Toulon Putters

Good evening,

 

I wanted to create a page for users who own or are interested in getting more information on Toulon putters. I know there are lots of users and I would love for people to jump in to comment and add their experience with Toulon putters. I’m going to add a Vegas or Alcatraz soon. 
 

To start, what have been your thoughts on the current 2024 line? I’m curious on the feel and performance you’ve seen and how it compares to something you’ve used in the past. 
 

Again, I’d love for people to chime in here with their putters, information, and questions.

I really want one because I love the aesthetic, but the minimum head weight being 360g is stopping me... I'd like at the absolute least a 350g option, or even better 330/340g

As a mallet user pretty much my whole life I finally picked up a mint Toulon San Diego a few months ago. Something about it just caught my eye when browsing the bay so took the plunge. It is 32'' and comes with the Scottie Scheffler grip, so ideal length for me and the grip is a nice size for my small hands.

 

Anyways I haven't regretted the purchase one bit. After a few sessions I got used to looking down at a blade and love the feel of the face over an insert. I feel like I have so much more control now and lag putting is way easier. I think a lot of it is that I am now putting with feel rather than trying to do everything perfect with the stroke. I actually enjoy putting now! I honestly can't think of a better looking putter either. It's so good that I have been able to go back to putting with a normal grip after going left below right the last 2 years or so due to a total lack of confidence..

 

I find myself getting the putter out of the bag at home and just staring at it like a saddo 🤣

 

I doubt I will try the new stuff.

that's the minimum wt of the new toulons?

I know heavier is the new thing, but there's no way with the adjustable wts to get lower?

On their website the two options are 360g and 380g 

 

I might reach out to see if they can make something way lighter, but it's not uncommon. I emailed Piretti some time back, and I think the lightest option for a fully custom putter was like 355g

All of our putters - except the Alcatraz H1 - come stock with 10 grams weights.

 

Alcatraz H1 comes with 5’s.

 

We have 5g weights in the build shop - meaning nearly any putter we make can be made to 350g head weight.

And in some cases a bit lighter.

 

We will make sure we make that more clear on the site.

Current gamer is a 2024 small batch Santa Monica…… 

for several years I’ve searched for ‘my’ perfect Anser2/Newport2.  What I was looking for was my ideal view at address

including a site dot with a square but softened shape. Head weight in the 340-350 range, that has the elusive soft but solid feel.

What I wasn’t expecting was how good the Headcover is and the quality of the divot tool supplied with it.

 

Sure it wasn’t cheap but I feel like I got value for money.

 

This Toulon has come the closest to my perceived ideal, it Has already provided me with some increased confidence and made some great putts.

I am currently using the Las Vegas Double Bend. I love the feel of the 24' materials and milling pattern. Visually you can easily see these are beautiful putters while maintaining high-level performance based on your desired shape and toe-hang. 

 

I typically purchase a few putters a year and swap in/out older putters in the bag. The Vegas will solidly maintain a spot in the bag until I see the Toulon 25 line.

I've had a few of their putters in the past, always like their styling and design especially on blades. But as a lefty options were limited (which I understand) so nothing really stuck for me. There was hopes I could get something I liked with the Garage program but that to me was nothing short of a disappointment as a lefty. 

 

Their current models are very nice from pics I've seen but again the lefty options on blades is limited, mallets are better but I'm not a mallet user. I'll have my fingers crossed for a custom program in the future and maybe I can get something I like and would roll. 

 

I'm not knocking or hating on them, I know all the reasons and what not for lefty putters. It's just I do like their designs as I mentioned but can't get one. And just as an aside the Vista and Santa Monica are some of my favorite head shapes from them.

Good info and thanks for chiming in. Now the real question... you teased a Xander model in lefty when you branched away from Odyssey. Any info on when or if it's still coming?

As you guys can see the owners are pretty active on this site, and will respond to most questions.  I have seen them do many things that go above and beyond the best customer level of customer service.  I have multiple models of Toulons because of this, and find the Vegas to be the best fang style headshape of them all.  I can shed some insight on the feel of the different generations...

 

The current gen is pretty much perfect feel to me, crisp but still with a little softness.  I went with the Diamana putter upgraded shaft, and that thing is sweet!  I wouldn't be scared of the 360g headweight, as I tend to prefer lighter putters but have no issue with this head.  The shaft putts such a good roll on the ball.  I need toe flow so in this year's model I went with the H1 hosel or L neck as it's called.  

 

Prior gen with the diamond milling is super soft feeling, and putts a very nice roll on the ball compared to other milling types.  In this gen I went with a flow neck and pulled the stroke lab shaft out and put in a BGT stability.  I also have a super rare H1 hosel in this generation that has the stroke lab shaft in it, and it feels the lightest of the bunch for me.  Putts a very nice roll on the ball.

 

I orginally bought a the odyssey stroke lab model with the full face milling, but have since moved  that since i have so many.  It had amazing feel and balance with the OG stroke lab shaft, also a flow neck.

 

Great brand that gets overlooked, and the putters are very premium build and feel.  Their customer service is second to none, so I would recommend anyone try one.

I called about this and spoke with Sean. He mailed me the 5 gram weights and a tool to get my Las Vegas to 350 grams. Great customer service and I really love this putter.

I second this.  The LV H1 is an awesome putter.  May do the 5g weights myself as I usually go lighter than 360, but as Dr Scott says it feels pretty good at 360.  Currently alternating between a DF3 and the LV, because I had to try them both.  That being said I'm a sucker for a good looking putter with great feel and in that respect there is no comparison.

No, they didn't. They released a Toulon Las Vegas, not a replica of what Xander is using. Xander's Las Vegas is essentially an Odyssey #7 head which is different than Toulon's retail Las Vegas head. It's cool if that's what they're producing... but it's not the same.

I'm pretty sure they aren't making Odyssey shapes anymore. So for lefties, I think this is them throwing us a bone with the crank neck hosel on an LV.

All good if that's the case, I was just hopeful it would have been a Xander replica. I've played the #7 shape for years and am a big fan. Something about that crescent shape looks better to my eye

I’ve got the 2022 Odyssey Toulon Atlanta with the dark black finish and dark green strokelab shaft.  I pulled the shaft apart and replaced the chrome steel tip portion with a black putter shaft I had and cut to fit.   Looks and feels great.

Couple photos with my 7ch.  I really like how Toulon straightened out the top line vs the previous LV.  I also like how the piece between the fangs is straight instead of curved.  Those updates appeal to my OCD.  I wish the cavity alignment was ball width like the Odyssey, but I also realize there's only so much you can do without making it 400g.  I've got to put it in the bag full time and give it a chance.  Nice putter and bravo Toulon.

They will definitely try to accommodate you as best they can. I got that feeling after messaging back and forth with Preston. I wish more companies were as helpful and willing.

This is my Vista. The 904L has a pretty great feel. Toulon’s small batch stuff is expensive but pretty cool.

No, it's a chicago with a tour slant neck. I forgot what odyssey called it but its got a name like T8 or something.

Purchased this 2019 Las Vegas from CPO. Was listed as a garage model (and came with a garage headcover). I assumed that garage would be some custom paint fill or weighting. Does anyone know why this is a garage model? No complaints, I was worried it would have some crazy colors.
