Ventus Blue 6X tipped vs 6TX

LinkLow

Recommended Posts

With all the different options on the Ventus shafts, I'm not sure which direction to go from here.

I haven't got to try the Black shaft, and I do like the way the blue 6x shaft feels, but I launch it pretty high (with 8.25 loft)

My question is: do I need to try another 6X shaft with even more tipping? Or could I jump into the 6TX to lower flight down some?

If neither, would the Black 6x bring the flight down some over the Blue? I play the Blue TR at 45.5", so it does feel a little whippy.

Thanks for reading

How high is “to high”?

unless you are popping it up , your probably not hitting it to high.

I found the TR Blue 6-TX and TR Black 6-X to perform pretty similarly.

120+ feet. 11.5  degree launch angle. Spin is 2650 rpms or less on average.

It's not a problem until the wind picks up, which is every other day here in west Texas. Looking for that "flat" height that I had in my previous driver setups without such a steep angle of descent.

Loft is going to help you more. Loft it down or try a lower lofted head. That will effect it more then a shaft change will

Agreed - I'm currently playing a 6TX tipped 1" and it feels like a tweener between the TR Blue and TR Black with the TRBlack 6X Results - highly recommend it.

I have had experience with every shaft you named in 6X and 6TX.

All in all I would explore tipping the standard X 1” before going up to TX.

Agreed with Kale, although it would be helpful to hear details of your previous and current driver setups (shaft and head model, loft, settings etc).

Previous setup was TS3 in the same loft (9.0 turned down to 8.25) with a Diamana WB 73X tipped 1"

Setup before that was the 917d3 (8.0) with a Fujikura Pro 63x tipped 1"

The stock 1k black 65x that came in this TSR3 stayed lower than this Ventus Blue 6x. On a smooth swing it will fly decent, but if I stand on it, it will start low-ish and then climb quick....

I play a left dash V1x, so the spin doesn't seem to be the issue. Have gone back to a Pro V1 a few times just to double check. Launch angle and spin is where I think it should be, but maybe I'll have to try the 8.0 head in the new drivers when they come out in a few weeks.

I appreciate the replies!

As @Kale_msuggest, loft is probably your best bet.  As for the Ventus Blue, I've found that the difference between the X and TX is feel and spin reduction.  Launch stayed the same.  The lowest launch/spin shafts I found are the Diamana WB, Tour Z RPG Gold and TR Black.

Would an untipped Black 6x feel like a telephone pole compared to the Blue 6x tipped 1"? The torque is pretty close. Just hard to think I need the same shaft that Rory uses, LOL. I don't have crazy speed or anything like that. 112-115

Black 6X actually has some feel to it believe it or not.  It doesn't have the same kick in the mid like the blue does.

If you had WB 73X tipped 1" the black 6x should feel whippier than that imo.

Yeah OEM torque numbers are just a complimentary yet fruitless spec they give you. Guessing from the number it is probably the butt torque which is even more meaningless since all ventus shafts have very comparable butt stiffness.

Rory used the blue TR 6x tipped 1" when he was initially using the Qi10 LS head but has been in a black 6x 1" since going to the core Qi10.

Dont feel like it is going to be too much shaft cause even Billy horschel uses the same shaft and tipping and he swings it about your speed lol

Thank you for the insight. That makes me a little less intimidated to try the Black. I appreciate it
