well my shaft arrived this evening when I was golfing. Not playing until Sunday with a member guest day at the Castle Course in St Andrews, never played there before so might not actually use the shaft but it will be hard to resist.

Got my Black 5S today. Same exact setup that I’ve been using in the Blue. Tipped.5” 45.5”. I’ll try it this afternoon and report back. One interesting thing is the black is a 50 and the blue is a 60. Only 6 grams difference between the 2 finished with same tip and grip. Figured it would be closer to 10 but guessing more material in the black.

I should have the new black 6x today and have gamed the black TR since it came out and before that, gamed the original black since it was Tour Only. I’ll be doing a head to head with the black TR on Trackman hopefully later today and I’ll post the data then.

Nice! I played to OG blue, didn’t really like the OG black but the TR black has worked well.

I hated the OG Black (in driver but love in 3 wood) but the Black TR has worked out really well, just wanting something a touch less to swing. OG Blue was insanely long when I could time it but I couldn't keep it on the planet most drives. Eagerly waiting to hear about the new Black hoping it's smooth like the TR, otherwise might have to try out a GD VF.

Anybody grab a Red yet? I like them in my fairways and I’m tempted to try in my driver. I played the TR Blue for a while and had good success in an Aerojet, but didn’t like it in a G430 10K. Considering trying a Red or a TR Red now.

Red tr has been amazing in my 10k. Been considering getting the blue+ to try out, don’t really need it but always nice to try.

Played first round with the New Black. Exact spec to old Black 6X tipped 1 inch playing 45.5 in a TSR3 head(9 degree turned down to 8 degrees)

 

Played a 2 ball Stableford on the Castle course in St Andrews, I have never played there before. I hit it 2 times on the range after switching the shaft over(stiff low draws)

 

Performance - Drove the ball well(irons and 2 iron were terrible) I hit one drive not where I wanted; cut instead of draw.

Feel - Certainly different, couldn't really put it to words but just different. I can feel the head like before but it kicks different

Flight - Certainly Lower for me than the older version.

Dispersion - really good for the 10 drives or so I hit.

 

Playing Tuesday and Wednesday this week so will have a bigger pool of shots to see how it goes.

I know it's not an apples to apples comparison, but I had the New Black 7X built up to match my exact build specs of my TR Black 7X (TR Black 80 grams raw and New Black is 75.5 grams raw) for driver to give them a head to head battle. 

 

My early thoughts after putting them head to head on the range 2 days in a row and then playing the New Black today for a full 18 

 

-The new black is definitely more work to swing it feels like, TR feels much smoother and easier thus far. 

-When I middle the new black, it's definitely longer than TR Black when it's middled. 

-With my TR Black my cut was more pronounced, so gaming the new Black today I was aiming where I would normally aim and the Cuts for the New Black weren't as pronounced and I ended up right off the fairway in the left rough, not an issue what so ever, I'll get used to aiming less left going forward. 

 

All in all, I think I can see myself moving to the new black, just for the fact that when it's a good strike, it's REALLY GOOD

Dang.  The TR felt like a decent bit of work to swing b/c of the ultra stiff handle.  I thought they softened the + (softer than the blue according to the copy they put out.  Interesting findings!

Im very confused by this as well, the TR black for be felt really stiff in the handle and hard to load, nothing like the OG Black and the spec on the website shows the new plus is even softer in the butt end than the OG (comparing Black 6x)

 

I have a new Black Plus 6X on order and will compare it to my OG Black 6X as soon as it comes

to me it felt similar but different to the original in same spec. Hard to explain, I liked the feel of the new one. Didn’t feel too stiff. I will get my 72 year old dad to hit it and see what he thinks.

Ive gotten a very short range session and 18 holes. I'll get another full 18 in this afternoon. I swapped back and forth between the Blue+ & Black+. I immediately noticed more fade bias with the Black+. Also noticed a bit higher flight. I attribute this to the Blue loading a bit easier and its easier to square up the face. Open face with the Black+ and its going to go a bit higher. I still maintain the new Blue is more stable and loads differently than the OG Blue and TR. On course I hit it well. Same Ventus stability and I just love the way these shafts handle the toe ball. I feel like I may give up a smidge of distance with the Black+ but definitely do not worry at all about the left side. I had been hitting the Blue+ so well it had become automatic. Got to give the Black+ its due and play with it a while but if I had to decide now, I'd stick with the Blue+. Its just a bit straighter, longer and easier to turn over. That left side issue it presents early in rounds also is a + later in rounds when I get a little fatigued because I don't have to worry about losing it right. I am going to move my Blue+ 6S to my BRNR Mini for sure and if I don't keep the Black+ move it for a Blue+ 5S in the driver.

round 2 with the new black; again a bad iron day but good off the tee, hit 3 wood and 2 irons a lot today.

 

Performance - still awesome, I only hit 3 drivers in 18 holes and hit all three exactly how I wanted - 2 high draw(high tee downwind), 1 low tee straight into wind

Feel - great, not too stiff, just kicks at the right time. It is different to the original.

Flight - flatter for the high ones and lower than the old black for the low tee one.

Dispersion - seems awesome.

 

My dad 72 and a scratch golfer for 25 years hit my driver - smashed it 250 down the middle. Says he is ordering a 6S new black for whichever GT driver he buys. Also said it didn't feel too stiff. - very interesting.

Did some testing on trackman with the new VC+ Black 6x tipped 1/2" vs. OG Black 6x tipped 1", I tipped it less becuse it came out within 1cpm of the OG and I was looking for a hair more spin.

 

trackman numbers were very similar but about 100rpm more than the OG, and up about 1mph in club head speed. carry went up 4 yards.

 

Then feel very similar as well with maybe a tough stiffer feeling in the mid section in the new version.

Straight in the bag, now I just need to find a fairway shaft that feels the same.

 

Anyone compared the new Blue to the TR red or TR blue?
