I’m bagging both TD Max (9 degree) and mini at 11.5. There’s about a 20-30 yd separation. Then going to my 3-wood, then deciding on either 3 or 4 hybrid before going into my irons. Of course for me, it’s course dependent. If I’m playing on courses that are fairly long but forgiving off the tee (I.e. open with not that much trouble), then I probably don’t need the mini, but that’s pretty rare up here in the Northwest where a lot of courses are tree lined.

Waited a day too long to click buy.  Suffered for a couple weeks seeing 'Sold Out" constantly.

 

On the 26th, I suddenly realized a stock Mini is a bazillion times better than no Mini.

 

I ran down to my local, got 2X + $50 and was walking out door.  Felt like stealing.

 

To say 'I'm stoked' is an understatement.  A handful of drives and I'm loving this club.  The honeymoon is on!

 

So impressed with the AI Smoke face, I traded some more clubs and ordered an AI Smoke Max.

Can anyone confirm if the adapter is the driver or FW adapter?  Also, is it tipped like a FW or driver?  In between somewhere?

I dont know about tipping but it is a driver apapter.

So whats the verdict on hitting this off the deck. I can hit the driver off the deck but its usually just a bullet fade. This reasonable/doable for speeds about 110?

Thanks, that helps.  I was just getting ready to convert some of my driver shafts to 3W shafts so now I'll wait.  Which creates a diff question.  Does anyone know the length of the actual shaft? Is it just a 3W?

I got mine last week and hit it this weekend - was awesome. Ordered 13.5 with Denali Blue 70TX playing 1/2" short at 43.25. Soooo straight and easy to hit relative to a 3w off the tee. I never go for anything I can't reach with my 19 degree UW, so it's perfect in between driver and UW.

Found some at the local RD at lunch time. Tried my TD max at 9 VS the 11.5 turned down one using my 45 inch Tensie raw blue and dispersion was much better with the Mini and it took a lot of my left miss out of play. It looks so much better to me than any of the other AI Smokes. Plus i got some money back in the deal. Of course they will get it again at some point but that what this place is all about right?

Went to GG looking for a 5W and YOLO’d 11.5° Stiff.  I’ve had a couple Mini 300’s in the past, but the stock stiff shaft felt noodly, like shooting pool with a rope.

 

The Denali shaft feels stouter and less whippy - in a good way for me.  Quick range session and it was long and straight with a little baby cut.  
 

I didn’t mess with the adapter but I did switch the weights for a few shots and it was more erratic and wanted to slice with the heavier one in front. 
 

Hopefully it’ll carry over to the course, but you know how that goes…

My driver speed is about 110-113. I also do this, but its typically a terrible shot.  With the 13.5 mini, I've actually found its fairly easy to hit off the deck. I can't explain why, but for me this one is easier to hit off the deck than the TM mini. As long as I let the club do the work and don't try to lift it myself, it's pretty remarkable.

My driver speed is just a few mph more and I am having the same result. Can’t get a driver in the air too much from off the deck. But the Mini I really hit well off the deck. Lots of height, straight, super excited that I can do this.  Didn’t buy this club to be able to hit it off the deck, but now that I can it just makes this club even better.

What’s the headweight of each? I’m assuming the driver head is around 193g but no idea what the mini is coming in at but I assume over 200g? Anyone have some numbers?

Update 2: Canceled order from TGW cause I found in stock at DSG Ordered Tuesday & was delivered very next day with free shipping. Took a few practice swings in yard & hit a stone under grass & put a scratch on sole. Hadn't even hit a ball with it yet. Ugh!

Never weighed the TD max. Stock weights are 12 back, 4 front

Can anyone measure the shaft with adapter but no head? I assume with optifit 2 - like driver - it's +1.25" installed making the shaft w/ adapter about 42.5" but would like to confirm.

Was able to hit this mini driver in the store yesterday.  It's better than BRNR off the tee for me but I didn't like the stock shaft (?) (Denali shaft I think). 

 

My sense is that these mini driver clubs require a really good fitter at which point you might as well focus on driver or 3 wood whether it's fitting or swing adjustments.  My driver and 3 wood have nothing to worry about.

I just sold mine on the other site.  Just a bit too many misses to the right, which is poison to my eye and game.

 

I still have the TaylorMade Mini and I’m doing a Titleist fitting for the GT line at the end of the month.  We’ll see.

 

Im glad it’s working for many of you all though.

I hit absolute moon balls with this thing and I have the 11.5 head. 
 

I haven’t yet swapped the weights or turned it down which I’ll try next. Just had it for 3-4 swings on the course today. 
 

what’s the consensus on tee height for these things?

Got one and played it this week. Cool club. I use my three exclusively off the tee for a few holes or when the driver is acting up. It is a nice second tee club. Head is a confidence inspiring especially with the shorter shaft. About 15-20 yards shorter than driver on solid strikes so that works too.

Fits perfectly. Seems like a dedicated size for the 340 Mini.
