Also, I walk and use 8-10 clubs 80% of the time.

 

When I/you do that, you need 1 club that can do everything from safe tee shot, to into a green from 190-210, to getting out of the rough on long par 4's after a bad drive. For me, that's my 24* Titleist 913h. 😃

I see lots of people dropping 4 irons and even some 5 irons as hybrid and wood tech has advanced and with more options in those areas. Also see lots of long iron replacements down to the 5 iron with not only hybrids but with the larger utility irons but made for iron-like use and not tee only. 

 

9 woods making a small appearance over high lofted hybrids, too, but this is limited right now in comparison.

 

Lots of 7 woods with how hot and low spin many wood lines are these days.

 

Many faster SS players using 'max' model woods rather than the typical ones you'd expect.

Replaced my 4i with a 5 Hybrid, but with the same steel shaft I play in my iron set. Smooth swing off the tee gives me 210, easily get 190-200 from the fairway or good lie in the rough. I have SO much less anxiety making good contact with this club than my 4i.

 

And I love the 5w as my fairway finder off the tee.

The 24 degree hybrid has a dynamic gold s300...it replaces the 4 iron and I grip down on it to hit it 5 iron length.  

 

Regarding the abundance of headcovers,  I use the Rocket Tour skinny stick head covers for the 24, 21 and 19 degree clubs...they take up much less room in the bag.

Fairway woods and hybrids all hook on me and on my home course (short), are completely unnecessary for shots into the green. 

 

I will be incorporating a 2 driver setup soon. I tried mini drivers but they aren't forgiving enough compared to a 460cc head. And their practicality from the deck is limited to maybe 1 hit out of every 10 rounds. 

 

Driver 1 at 9 turned to 8 playing 45.5"

Driver 2 at 10.5 turned to 11.5 playing 43" 

I have an 8.5 at 45.5" and a 10.5 at 42" ... one of the best club choices I ever made.

I'm on the following bandwagons: 

LAB putter (broomstick on order so maybe on that bandwagon soon too)

Mini-Driver replacing 3w 

4 wedges 4 degrees apart (just made this change) after a 44 degree 'pitching wedge'

 

for longer hitters these days the idea of having a bunch of clubs at the top of the bag seems ridiculous on courses under 7k yards.

I’m on the fence for my next set. Looking at the PXG 0211’s but the 6 iron is the same loft and length as my current 4. Seems like I could go 6-gap in the 0211’s, 54 and 58 wedges, Driver, 4 wood, and 22 degree hybrid and cover all my gaps. 12 clubs total. 

Mid single digit so not going to win anything big.

I'm at a private club (so we're playing the same course every day) and it amazes me the number of golfers who load up the top end of their bag with clubs they only hit a couple times a year.

Just shook up the top end of the bag. I have 2 drivers (they are calling 2w a driver so they can charge more lol) and 5 wedges including PW. 14 Total.

 I’m currently toting all hybrids from 4 thru 9 with two 7 hybrids . One is 30 the other is 34. I think the Eleven Hybrids got me thinking it was possible. Bought the 8&9 from them and kept the Callaway Epic Flash 4&5 , Big Bertha 6&7, and a Ping 430 7 . It’s working so far.

I’ve got the g410 5 and 6 hybrids. Starting to show a touch of age. Debating on upgrading the whole set to g430 5, 6 and 7. Not sure if it’s worth it or not but ping hybrids and woods just seem to do the trick for me
