Shipping Clubs after Sale

I may be listing a set of irons soon. How do guys account for shipping costs and how do you prepare them for shipping? Would I go to a local golf shop and see if they have any club boxes?

If I were still working I'd have them shipped from work via the company's FedEx account and take advantage of their negotiated rates.

I have a lot of boxes from buying stuff from Callaway Pre-Owned. Maybe I ought to store the boxes flattened out.

Then I got specialty wedges via eBay.

Know anybody who constantly tries new clubs?

Ship using pirateship.com for great rates. Most of us have boxes sitting around from all the clubs we cycle through but your local golf store should be able to help you out.

Measure the box and weight first, then run a couple of addresses through your preferred provider to get an estimate. Sometimes you see sellers say "Add $X if east/west of the Mississippi." 

 

I find if I run shipping through Paypal after I'm paid, the rate is typically more favorable than if I went through the shipper directly.

I suspect I'll get more for my Ping S59 set on here than if I sell them to Roger Dunn or Play It Again Sports...

Most big box stores will be happy to give you a box, although that might depend on who you talk to on a given day. Fact of the matter is they have TONS, new and/or used, but I recommend buying a little something (sleeve of balls etc) if you clock the person you're asking as being a little unfriendly.

Roger Dunn's for me is like Costco for my wife; we can't go there without buying something, so that shouldn't be a problem. 🙂
