Titleist GT Driver - anyone fit into it?

I know two people who have been fit into it ... one says its clearly the best driver on the market -- he gained around 3 mph and 10 yards and hits it farther and straighter than anything else.  Another says that it's a bit better than the TSR3.  Anyone else been fit?  How does it compare to either Qi10 VS / Dot or Callaway Triple Diamond?  Thanks for any responses!

Was fit for it last week. Small gsins in distance but grear improvement on dispersion and spin.  Slightly better than my TSR1 during fitting.  Will put it against the Ai Max TD whtn it comes in next week.

The video depicts the difference between a “self fit” golf club and a “professionally fit” golf club. Getting launch conditions under control made it a relatively easy fit.

Yea spinning a cobra LS at 3300 is nuts to me but ok.

Agreed.  Thats not even a self fit, that’s a let me find the worst fit and then go test a new professionally fitted driver.

I will be going to a titleist event in a few weeks to get fit into a GT. Same fitter who fit me into TSR3 last year. Not sure how he will feel about me changing shaft into a self choice since our fitting….

3mph 10 yards…. Imagine if every mile per hour equaled 3.33 yards… a guy with 175 ball speed would hit it 583.33 yards 😂

I'm in GA and I'm getting fitted on Tuesday.  Currently I'm using a TSR3, and I feel like it would VERY hard to improve on the performance of it significantly.  We'll see.

It also wasn’t specifically meant as a titleist thing. Right before all major oem releases, someone “has a buddy who knows a guy who gained 15-20 yards”. It got me once with the stealth launch and the carbon face, but never again! Lol

Buddie of mine is a Titleist fitter.  I hit the 2 and 3 a couple weeks ago.  A fine driver no doubt, actually had a cut out of one of them and showed me what's going on inside.  Also the top a little a way from the face is now some type of polymer.  So light and actually sounds like a piece of metal when hittting it on some metal.  As far as performance. if you are fit properly into the TSr, doubt your going to see any significant gains.  Price unfortunately is going to be  $649.99 with one of the stock shafts.

I haven't been fit and love my TSR2...  but with my swing speed (91-93 mph) I was told I probably wouldn't see much difference in ball speed to make me want to change if I like what I have.

Our pro recently got fitted into a GT3.  He was shocked.  Picked up nine yards on his existing driver in back to back testing and his dispersion was lower.  And he has no skin in the game to push any club over any other.

The 10 yard gain person swings 85-90 mph which is a lot … maybe 4-5%

Can a regular 80s shooter like me use the Titleist GT or even the TSR series drivers?  I 've always been under the impression that only the most accomplished, talented, and elite golfers can play with Titleist clubs; like they're so difficult to hit that only the best of the best players can use them.

That was true in the 90s and 2000s maybe but now they’re forgiving. I’m a 12 handicap and the tsr2 was the best combination of distance and forgiveness I tested during a fitting last year and I hit over 100 drives in an hour. Driving accuracy has always been my weakness and it’s made a huge difference in that respect, so anyone can play them now..

I got fitted today and hit the GT2 and the GT3 drivers/fw woods.  The sound of those two GT Drivers were less metallic than my TSR.  The GTs sounded great and had a deeper tone, kind of like a smack.  It sounded and felt more "solid" than the TSR to me.  I had no problem being able to feel where on the clubface I was striking the ball (most of my misses are low on the clubface.)  For me, the difference in yardage was negligible between the GT2 and GT3.  My dispersion was just better with the GT2.

 

Currently I'm using a 9* TSR3 Driver and a 15* TSR3 3 wood.  I was fitted into an 8* GT2 driver and a 13* GT2 3 wood.

 

I'm getting both of them.  I liked the sound and feel when striking the ball.  My dispersion was better compared to the TSR3, and the GT was longer.

How is the shape of the GT2 compared to the TSR3? 

Seems they made it a bit more compact compared to the TSR2, and more in line with the shape of the TSR3 in pictures but hard to tell until seeing in person.

Not directing this at you, but an overall comment.  That is such an outdated statement, and it was true though in the early 2000's.  But to me I would say the big turning point was around 2015 with the AP line and the 915/917 lineup.   They really came out with a model for every level.,   

 

In drivers in particular,  I float between a 16 and 19, and play the TSR 1 and 2 and now GT2 very easily.  I even was able to hit the GT3 very well, but just want the added forgiveness of the GT2.  

 

As for irons, the T350 can be played by 20 to 25 handicaps, but I know several 10 handicaps that love them.   For you shooting in the 80's you can easily play the T200 and probably the T150.   I highly recommend attending one of their fitting days if you have the chance.  The fitter will spend a full 1-1 hour with you and you will learn ALOT!

I don't know anything actual on specs, but I posted to someone the other day, the GT2 does look ever so slightly more compact than the TSR2 when I sat them side by side.

I had a terrible experience with a Titleist fitter with the TSR series, so I’m going nowhere near these.

Currently using 10* TSR3 with Tour AD-IZ shaft. I have a low ball flight (7* launch angle) with about 225yd carry. Was fitted with the new GT3 10* and same shaft. Noticeable difference in launch, gained about 3* which came out to about extra 10yd of carry.

 

The new head feels powerful and more stable. I had no intention to switch this season as I typically keep my clubs for 5+ years, but couldn't resist due to the better dispersion and longer carry

I was fit into a TSR4 driver with a stiff shaft, and TSR2 fairways with ultralight regular shafts. The driver was ok on exact center contact, but very unforgiving on off center contact. When I traded it in, at a busy shop, they said that they had never fit anyone in that club. When getting fit for the fairways, the fitter kept saying that I need to hit the ball higher so they land softly on the green when going for a par 5 in two. I’ll be 70 in August, and I told the fitter that he doesn’t understand the game of a 70 year old golfer. I can reach a short par5 in two, but I’m not flying the ball to the green. In the past, I’ve had good dealings with Titleist fitters, but this particular guy wasn’t up to standard.

I was hitting the GT3 and my fitter, Garrett, made an adjustment.  I let him know the adjustment was great and he said he swapped the head to a GT2.  I didn't even notice at address that there was a different head.
