Finger pain - Would a larger grip help?

I have developed extensor tendinitis in my left ring finger ( I am a right hand player).  I have taken a little more than two weeks off and still have discomfort/pain. I have a number of events coming up that I really don’t want to miss. I am wondering if changing grips would help. Currently play Winn Dri Tac 2.0 standards, use graphite shafts, and wear a medium cadet glove. I am considering the following: Winn Dri Tac 2.0 midsize, Winn LT, and Winn LT midsize. Can anyone provide some advice?

I had a similar issue with my right ring finger.  I was playing Tour Velvets standard size but I have big hands, XL glove.  I've always played grips that were too small for my hands.  I started having an issue with my finger after a ton of practice this spring.  I switched to some UTX+ and it helped a ton.  I would suggest giving at least one a try on a club to practice with a little bit.

Like was mentioned, try a midsize on a club and work up from there. I went from standards to jumbos in a matter of 2 years to ease hand and elbow pain. Wish I would've have done it years ago. I'm a fan of the GP CP2 wraps which have what I perceive to be considerable cushion. I would compare them to the Winns

Sorry, no easy answer.  It might or might not.   But my guess would be probably not but it never hurts to give it a try.  

 

If the swing itself causes pain, then probably not a lot you can do.  If it's just the impact that causes the pain, then softer grips (like CP2 or CPX) or prosoft inserts might help.

I was going to chime in with this.

 

Many moons ago I decided to try Winn grips and within a week my fingers were on fire. Switched back to my old grips, Lamkin crosslines at the time, and pain was gone in a week.

Cortisone shot to get through the season.  Surgery after if it keeps up, like becomes trigger finger like mine did.  Took about 3 months to heal, stil have some calcium build up that I'm going back to have looked at.  I use CP2 Pro's.  There are shots where it can hurt too.  For a while, I used a catchers batting glove (padded).  Helped a bit

For over ten years I've coped with osteoarthritis in my left wrist and other parts.  Not big on taking meds, so when I say cope, that's what I do, and use Voltaren gel, which works for me.  I have large hands, and use standard MCC Align built up with wraps and wear x-Large Titleist leather glove.  Midsize may help, but that depends on the size of your hands.

Have osteoarthritis in both hands; they do not close into a normal fist.  Currently use Winn Dri-Tac 2.0 oversize grips.  Also wear a glove on both hands and graphite shafts.  Putter has a jumbo grip.  For various reasons I only play 9 holes at a time, but the hands are still sore after.  Also helps to keep grips and gloves clean; better contact, don't feel like I have to hold the club so tightly.

Just got (ultrasound/minimally invasive) surgery done on my left hand for the ring and pinky fingers.  The triggering was starting to bother me a lot.  I wouldn't do it any other way.  Flew to Florida to have it done and would do it again if I had to.  Procedure only took about 20 minutes in the same office.

 

That being said, my hand issues got exponentially worse after going to a standard tour grip.  I originally tried mid size because of hand pain and went back to standard based on the recommendation of Golftec.

 

 

Big mistake for me.  Now I'm starting to experience triggering on my right hand (ring and pinky) as well.  I've ordered Jumbomax ultralites to see if they will help.  Hoping the issues on my right hand will subside.

I switched to Winn 2.0 LT midsize grips. Played both days this weekend and pain in left hand was much more manageable. I also used Alleve, Voltaren, and a Bionic glove.

XComfort grips have helped me with arthritis pain.  Far more cushioning and softer than CP2 Wrap.
