My brain is deliberately  telling all parts of my body to move with the exception of autonomic nervous system controlled functions.  Last I checked pelvic rotations was not one of those functions.

So then how do we explain this basic pattern that we see in basically all of high level golf to one degree or another:



That very conscious, very "separate from the hands" motion of bumping the pelvis, pressure the lead leg, and beginning to activate the lead hip. How is this connected to/lead by the hands?

I'm in agreement that a big hurdle to attaining a technically good swing has a lot to do with big joint & big muscle control. Been a believer for at least 10 years and what spurred that was playing with 5th degree martial arts teachers. Flat out, some the best of swings i've spent 18 holes with. Martial arts devotes heavy training to compounded movements of entire body, a flying hoo kick is as complex as a great golf swing. These guys were dad's and business owners, had real time constraints in their lives and their swings were grade A polished.

 

Not hard to see the great athlete vs good is the dynamic balance they exhibit. That's also controlled by big muscles & joints. That neuropathy is elevated. I have rather good hand eye, i was a drummer, been a machinist for decades, my Dad was European trained machinist, had better hand/eye than a surgeon, not kidding either. What's obvious to me as a duffer is hand/eye, does not get it all done, that elevated control of the big stuff is a major obstacle to attaining elevated swing mechanics.
