New Titleist CB’s

Y'all... This isn't hard:

Cool clubs cb testing:  Cb

T100 testing:  T100

Cb appears to have slightly lower spin launch.   Said the t100 and 150 has the same spin launch.  I'm not sure how they calculate.  They didn't provide actual spin rates.

Yup, lower with a degree more loft.

A "spin launch" rating of 272 means absolutely nothing. The 620cb has a higher rating at 340 too.

Take the L

spin launch is explained below.

Cb has lower spin launch (340) at a higher loft (35 degrees)

t100 has higher spin launch (350 )at lower loft (34 degrees)

I've always preferred the cb.  718 was so good.  620 is great too.  Really looking forward to another model though.  No multi material stuff.  Just forged goodness with pre worn leading edge.

Should be an expensive Fall.  Ne wCB/MB release with GT driver already gone through proving ground.  I find it hard to believe that Titleist will add a badge to the CB/MB lineups.   I have to believe they will knock it outta ball park.   They’ve had 5 years and these clubs for many are the holy grails.   Me personally, said it for years, I wish they would come out with new metal on these lines.  Make them soft, timeless and beautiful.    We shall see.

If I remember correctly, their spin launch rating system takes into account the loft so that it's not a factor in the score.  It seems like their goal is to make it more apples to apples.

Correct, so if you normalize for launch the spin is higher in the t100.

For every degree in launch the t100 spins 350 revs, for every degree in launch the cb spins 340 revs.

so if both irons launch at 20 degrees the t100 spins 200 revs more, all other variables the same.

T100 is 10 points higher?!  That's insane.

So it sounds like what you are saying is that if the CB were to launch 1° higher than the T100 due to the 1° of more loft that it has over the T100, it would actually spin more than the T100?

20° x 350 = 7,000

21° x 340 = 7,140

That’s is how the math works out in that scenario.

I hit both at 34 degrees loft.

620 launched about a degree or so lower (16 ish) than the t100 (17 ish) for me on that day.

Seems like that could be why Titleist designed them with a slightly weaker loft.

Could be. I always prefer to see the lower launch.

I can’t fully explain why they launch lower and spin less than t100 ( as did the mbs), but they did.  The cool clubs data was a scenario that a poster asked for that shows it’s not out of the realm of possibilities.  They have the information they need to form their own opinion.

we can go back to talking about the new series.

My MBs have very little offset

The 620 MB's are fine, was talking more their players irons and older mb's. I was looking at the t100 the other day and noticed the offset so looked them up. The offset in titleist irons has been noticeable over the years.

in mm's

image.png.2c58f61305294aaa3cf78ddb7237192d.png

TM MC offset

6 iron 2.3 mm

7 iron 2.1 mm

8 iron 2 mm

Ping blueprint s offset

6 iron 2.5 mm

7 iron 2 mm

8 iron 1.5 mm

I also remember the 716 mb's which were had Adam Scott's input having a lot of offset since he likes that. The 6 iron had 2.8mm of offset. Same for the 718 mb's 2.8mm offset in 6 iron, probably why I didn't pick them back then. They removed a ton of offset in the 620 mb's, probably one of the reasons they are liked so much and sticking around.

So you’re basing a new CB off of a video Rick posted hitting old CB’s that he never demoed? Seems kind of baseless when many people have been told by titleist reps there are currently no plans for a new CB or MB.

Ok I guess we’re stuck with the CB’s that have been out for 5 years then.  Sounds exciting thanks.

They (cb) significantly less with higher speed and steeper players.  It was tough me to get t100 under 7500-8000 on stock shots. Cb and mb both could be kept under 7k.  Same shaft, same ball. Neutral path and face, 3.5-5 down AoA, 97mph swing speed.

the t100 did offer more protection on less than perfect strikes.

I realized this today. I couldn’t keep spin numbers down with t100. Just spinny balloons is what it felt like. Had my Apex CB with me and dint have any issues with those.

One thing I found was 2019 T100 was noticeably lower spin than both the 2021 and latest iteration of T100.

I’ve gone back to a CB because it gives me the lower spin of the 2019 T100, with the feel and nicer lines at address of a CB. The last two versions of T100 spin too much for my delivery.

My last four sets have been 714 CB, 716 T-MB, T100 (2019) and now back to a CB with TC-201.

I loved the 714 CB’s but got seduced into chasing more distance with the T-MB. The T-MB’s were great for me (I can get steep) because they managed spin and launched high. But, because I’m steep I can tend to catch some a bit higher out of the face now and then, especially in semi rough, and I got pretty tired of air-mailing greens. So I went to 2019 T100 when they were released to help manage that spin drop-off while maintaining some forgiveness. The 2019 T100’s were great, was very happy with them and ended up gaming them for five years. I tested 2021 T100 on their release out of curiosity and while I preferred the look at address of the newer ones, I lost half a club from increased spin and carried on with the 2019’s for a couple more years. When the latest T100 came out, I tested those and same story, look great, but more spin. T150 managed spin much better, but they were so long it wouldn’t work at the bottom of the bag.

This year I ended up going to TC-201’s bent 1* weak (which matches them to T100 lofts while also taking out more offset from an already low offset head, which is just a perfect combo) and they’re brilliant. They spin the same as the 2019 T100’s but look better (almost unbeatable) at address with the benefit of having much improved feel and a pre-worn leading edge - just like the 2019 T100.

The 620 CB gave really similar numbers to the 201’s - again, less spin than T100 - but not a fan of the more rounder lines versus the Miura.

Some additional hearsay for the group. I am still playing my 718 CB's (and love them) but wanted to check out the 620's today. The fitter I was working with checked all around the store for the head, then spoke to a few other fitters and came back to tell me the Titleist rep had taken the 620 CB heads because a new model was coming out.

Idk if this is true or they just lost the head, but either way I didn't get to hit them.
