Yeah he is looking rough lately. Just looks tired.

He's got psoriatic arthritis, an autoimmune disease.  The biologic meds for those diseases can do a number on you.  Frankly, I think he looks great given his age and illness.

It was a great video series, also the additional content on Grant's teaching channel with the 6s match was good and insightful.  At 54 years old Phil still has plenty of game, just goes to show you how good younger players have gotten.  Phil would probably still be cleaning house on Champions tour.  It's nice to see him, DeChambeau, etc having no restrictions to content and speaking their minds.

If you meet these guys in person, especially when they're older, it is striking how "weathered" they all look after spending decades outdoors in the sun.  They have the hands of a 70-year old in their 40s, but stronger and very rough.

Except Lumpy, he was as smooth as a newborn baby.  Fat don't crack.

I was a long time Phil fan,  I actually like the ballbusting as that's my personality as well.  I will admit the whole LIV thing has "soured me" as I think it's a subpar product and they chased the $$$.

To see Phil really play like crap since joining Liv minus the great Masters has been a bummer.  I really like Grant's videos and this was very enjoyable to watch.  There are a few of these creators who are just fun to watch and offer some mindless amusement for 30-60 mins on the ipad as background noise at work.

Other than the PGA in ‘21, Phil was playing like crap for sometime before he joined LIV.  Look at his results and you see that he missed the cut almost 50 percent of the time during the three seasons prior to leaving, including 2022, and finished an average of about T50-60 for those where he made the cut.  I think he’s actually playing a little better than he was right before leaving, because he’s one of the few LIV guys that actually seems to care.  Those last few years on the Tour he looked like he was just going through the motions, which is what made that ‘21 PGA so unexpected.  I think all the criticism he took for leaving actually seems to energized him to give a crap again.  But he’s just too old to really be competitive more than once in a very, very blue moon.

Speaking of Phil I find it hard to believe the guy can't compete, like legitimately contend anymore with any regularity.

I know you don't get better as you age, but the guy has the short game, plenty of distance, no injuries should at least be able to sneak a few top 10s here and there. I know, the Masters and PGA were impressive, but absolutely absent on LIV. Not that I really care, Phil strikes as me the guy in real life that would annoy the hell out of me...

Compare his record to Ernie’s and you’ll see that he’s doing remarkably well FOR HIS AGE

Anyway, Father Time is undefeated

Actually, other than that PGA lightning strike, their performance in the three years leading up to turning 50 look remarkably similar.  Making about half the cuts and not really contending.

Ernie has made 1 cut in the majors in the last 7 years

Phil has made 16 including a win & a 2nd

Ah yes, I missed the Pebble Beach Pro Am and the Desert Classic.  That makes it entirely different.  🤣

Phil’s a great golfer wayyyy past his prime and has been for a long time.  Which makes his PGA win all the more amazing and a testament to the great golfer part.

Any golfer in their 40 is passed their prime. Hate to break it to you. Some might have had more success but they are not as physically capable as they were when they were younger. Aka passed your prime

If Phil won a PGA event he'd be the oldest ever winner by 2 years.  He's well past the age where anyone in recent memory has played as a full time pro; he probably competes more now than if he hadn't be involved with LIV.  He'll always be my favorite golfer and I'd love to see him get another win someday but I see it as more likely that he moves into either a media or team ownership role in LIV next season rather than him winning an event.

What he did to Grant on the first hole sums up his personality perfectly, much like when he threw Tom Watson under the bus. I have the utmost respect for what he has achieved in golf, but I can't say I'm a fan, really.
