No love for the Rogue ST line?

When the matte black Rogue ST came out I thought they were going to be a cult classic, especially the ST LS model since it was pretty forgiving and even lower spin than the TD model in some cases. However, I haven't seen many posts or videos comparing the Rogue ST against the current stuff which makes it seem like they didn't sell very well or are just largely forgotten at this point. I know the Callaway release cycle doesn't help, but what gives?  I had one for a while and I'm debating on going back to it. I'm curious to know if anyone here is still gaming it or what the reason was for going away from it.

I've got a driver, 3hl, and 7 wood in the st max and they are very good, but now are 3 models old.  That's an eternity in wrx terms. You've had Paradym and smoke released since they were released.

I ditched mine as quickly as I got it…even played Mavrik while I waited for the Paradym.  The reason was that it sat closed to my eye and I could not deal with that.  I even went as far as getting a flat callaway tour adapter to help open it up, but it was the way the sole was designed and how I addressed the ball that caused that closed look.

I can see that. The toe shaping definitely made it look a little too square if you're more used to a pear shaped Titleist or TM with twist face.

I’ll also agree with this, as much as I can enjoy callaway’s seemingly best in class blend of forgiveness and distance - they seem to really mess up the shaping on driver and fairways unless it’s a Triple Diamond, SZ, or the Apex UW which they knocked out of the park. Otherwise they have an odd top down look to them, where it always just looks like it’s going directly left. And for me it usually ends up doing just that.

The st ls fairways were amazing!  Lots of complaints because of fixed hosels, but they looked great to me!  Sat a touch open and flat.  Nice muted sound as well.

I loved the Rogue ST Max LS driver and LS 3 wood. I think that LS fairway wood is basically the same thing as the Paradym Triple Diamond and Ai Smoke Triple Diamond fairway woods, just with a fixed hosel.

I am still gaming the Rogue ST Max LS, very solid driver. I firmly believe that Callaway really messed up with these drivers, by not having the interchangeable weights ports. They have the stupid safety screws on the back weight. I played around with various amounts and placements of lead tape until i got my ideal setup, then had it hot melted and that made a big difference. Don’t know what they were thinking with that “brilliant idea”….

I have the Max driver and 5 wood.  I even play the Pro hybrid and irons.  I got them all from Callaway pre owned at decent discounts.  That place is dangerous for a wallet and no self control lol.  I think the irons have impressed me more than anything since I’ve never played Callaway irons.  I’ve mostly had Callaway long clubs for many years, so I know what I’m getting there.  I’m usually very brand agnostic, but their stuff just seems to work for me.  Now, I just have to find ways to get on the course more and on the BST less…

It’s why in my tinkering I haven’t got one. I play driver short and don’t have an easy place to get hot melt done. Lead tape falls off too easily. I depend on changeable weights and the ST line unless you got the TD did not have that.

Currently playing ST Max LS 9* in driver and a TC serial 💎💎💎 adjustable hosel in 15*- really like both.  However, I am fortunate enough to be able to source very specific specs and have a very trusted club builder to hotmelt as needed to further dial in needs.

I game the Rogue ST Max driver.  I have the left-handed model in 10.5 degree loft, womens Cypher Black shaft.  I chose the women's because of the slightly shorter length and then, I experimented by turning up the loft to 11.5* for just a bit more carry.  Best driver I've ever used, by far.

I have not tested the Callaway Smoke, Ping G430, or any of the 2024 drivers, but I really see no need to change right now with how well I'm hitting the Rogue ST Max.

I have ST Max 5/7/9 woods.  I have the driver also, but I never could get used to the shape of it.  It looked ugly and hard to wring to my eye.  That might sound ridiculous, but confidence is everything.

For driver I went to a BRNR Mini, and just went through a Titleist GT fitting and put a GT2 on order.  That type of shape is just much more appealing to me.

I have the max driver in 9 degree cranked all the way down to a 8 for some extra spicy distance. I love the rogue st max because it really helps cure my fade/push fade occasional big fade. Hit my longest drive with it as well. As a wrxer though that driver is on the bench for ones that might be not that good for me at all so we shall see.

I loved my Rogue ST line, had Driver 9* TD, 3W 15* LS and the 7W (then had a great deal on the Paradym line and changed everything), I now play the AI Smoke line, 10.5* TD, 3W 15* TD and 7W TD, but the ST line was an amazing performer no issues there...

Regarding the lead tape- I don’t mind it on irons and wedges, but in the driver it bothers me. These companies are charging $600 F’n dollars for a single club, it’s ludicrous that Cally didn’t have adjustable weights on that lineup….Anyways, you need to really press down on the lead tape and drag ur thumbnail back and forth over it. That will make the lead tape really adhere to the club, and give it that “melted” sorta look.

Rogue ST Pro irons were very underrated as a PD iron. The PW and AW had a weird shape, but even pros today including Mickelson put the long irons in the bag. The 4-6i combo surprisingly well with single piece forged irons from other brands. The only issue is getting the lofts right as they jacked them up a fair bit.

I have a Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS 10.5 driver. Shortened it to play at 44.5. Purchased a heavier weight cartridge and it plays at D5. I play it in the -1 neutral setting.  I hit my friends Paradynm triple diamond and much prefer the Rogue. All around great line in my opinion and it still keeps up with anything else out there. I played the Epic Max LS before that and that was another great offering.

I have played the Rogue ST LS 10.5 all season and have no plans on changing. Have the HW and 9w in the bag for the last two seasons and they won't be changed. I recently picked up a 12° Rogue ST max head here for testing/when I get really old.

Played an XR Sub Zero from about 2017 to 2023, picked up an ST TD LS, hit it for a few months, tried a bunch of different shafts, could never get it dialed in like the XR in terms of feel or dispersion.

Picked up a Paradym TD-S and it blew the doors off of the ST - and beat the AI Smoke TD I wanted to replace it with.

Had the MAX LS and definitely the best looking driver ive ever had, but i kept getting the odd too low spin diver from what felt like nowhere, the only driver ive had that with and just lost confidence with it, was such a shame
