Blade Putters - your favourite?

For all the blade lovers out there, which is your favourite brand and style?

I love blade and even some mallet putters. But blade wise I’m a PLD Anser guy. Specifically the prior gen black version with no sight alignments. I like the thicker face portion between the bumpers and the lack of a sight line. I may send mine out to have a dot done though.

 

anyone know who would be best to send that out to?

To my eye an 8802 is one of the prettiest ones out there. I can’t putt with it but it sure does look nice.

Can’t say it’s definitively my favorite. But it was the 1st one that came to mind.

I grew up playing an 8802 style blade, so I'm still partial to them.

I've always found the 8802 models fit my eye best and they tend to help my lag putting more than any other model as well. I also prefer no alignment aids and a smooth face, so the older Cleveland models really work great for me, preference being the "Designed By" Ben Crenshaw and Corey Pavin commemorative models.

Older Anser 2 designs, that were much lighter weight than those today. The smaller head shapes and less chonky bumpers are pretty apparent.

My top three all time are

1. Ping Anser 2(own-recently refinished) the lighter head weight is just incredible with lag putting, it may soon replace my 23’ SC Newport 2. 

2. Wilson 8802(own Odyssey 882- don’t care for the insert) would love to own someday if I can find a used one and refinish it back to pristine; side hobby of mine. 
3. SC pre 2000s Newport (own 23’ Newport 2 SS) but would love a custom design someday. I don’t particularly care for all the branding personally, and while the face milling is nice on my 23’, I prefer a cleaner face which may be why I lean more towards the Anser putters.

I have two tied.  My 2008 silver NP2.  This was back when Scotties looked and felt better IMO.

 

My second is a 2022 Anser PLD.  It's so clean with the all black coloring and no alignment.

I don't play it every round but I love to play it.

Anything with a flow neck.  I hate to look down at a plumbers neck and see that contraption, but mid slants and some long plumbers necks are Ok to look at.  I can putt just as well with a plumbers neck, I just don't prefer to look at them.

 

Prefer a Laguna/Zing style head, but anything is fine.  Also prefer soft carbon.

 

Using a Judy Rankin 305 rear shaft right now - stuff got stolen and I am not ready to bring out anything nicer yet.  It putts as well as anything that I have used in the last few decades.  It is super soft.  I will say that rear shaft 8802 are really easy to square and line up.  I knew this one and forgot.

Odyssey White Hot XG 1.  We have a love/hate relationship, LOL..  It will sink putts when it really matters, and I will love it for the rest of time.  But then it can also pi$$ me off, leaving everything short, 2-putting and sometimes even a disastrous 3-putt.

 I tend to like flow necks. They appeal to my eye.

Other favs are my Mizuno Bettinardi BC4 and  couple of TP Mills

I normally never respond to threads/posts that begin, "go," however I'm going to make an exception here cuz some great members posted some great putters. 

 

First, I'll never ever forget the first time that I heard of an Anser style putter referred to as a "blade," 😂😂.

 

I was like, "WTF, are you kidding me?!?!? 

 

"Seriously?!?!?"

 

"GTFOH," 😂🤣

 

My thoughts aside, this putter in the top pic, the Iconic 8802, was in my bag 85%+ of the time from 04/12/76, when I purchased it in my Club's Pro Shop with my Birthday money through my last Victory(avatar pic) 36+ years later. It made a s💩t ton of putts along the way, and yah, I'm sure that it missed a few, though I can't remember any of those, lol🤷🏻‍♂️

 

The 2nd pic from top is the same putter after Madison had gone upstairs in the hospital where Mr. Palmer and I were both in-patients, to get him to sign it, totally unbeknownst to me. I had never ever gotten another man's signature on anything, much less THE one club that was irreplaceable in my bag, though of the two signatures that I would have wanted, Mr. Palmer's was one. He would pass shortly after signing this putter. Rest Easy My Friend...

 

Also, the second 8802(R) in the pic with Mr. Palmer's signed putter is the 2013 Staff Centennial Issue Dual Milled Face 8802. A smidgeon "taller" than its Daddy(It failed the nickel test, lol🪙), this putter has a feel second to none, and I mean this literally, of ANY putter that I own, including the current $349.99 Tour Edition 8802, which I also have. 

 

My next fave and this blade got some serious bag time, including one of my Club's, is the Circa 1972 Mac Milled Ironmaster 600 VIP. Though I swapped out the Super Stroke Pistol 2.0 after my strokes, I putted and won with the original leather wrap grip. 

 

The third in my rotation was/is the Scotty LE 2006 Napa. Sweet putter & Superb feel!!

 

Finally, I love the Miura forged 1957 KM-008. It's short heel-toe length reminds me of the Mac VIP, which I loved cuz the smaller the face, the less margin for error/mishit.

 

Out of the over 200 blades that I have, and I'm speaking to the heel shaft design and the design that @Orchardist posted above, not the 125+ Anser designed "blades" that I own, there is on only one OG for me...

 

For one putt, one putter????
