Will they help my game

I am thinking about purchasing a set of 2004 rac lt's but I want your opinions first. I have demoed these clubs in a simulator and they have felt very good. I just want to know a few more things before I buy

1. What is the typical trajectory (my driver swing speed is around 105mph)
2. I currently play a draw. Will these irons be going left all day or will I keep my controlled draw.
3. What is the forgivness like compared to blades.
4. Any other comments would be great!

I've got a set of 04 LTs...

 

Trajectory is mid to high, not low as the name would imply. I hit soft draws and have a harder time fading the ball. I think the stiffness of the shaft would influence your draw/hook patterns. The LTs are very forgiving, especially compared to a blade. These are very solid irons as long as the shaft fits you. They appear smaller and less offset than the 2005 model. Most people like the clean lines of the 2004 model, but that's not to bash the 2005 at all. It's a cast iron and not quite as soft as forged, but it feels great nonetheless. I love mine and will not change anytime soon. To me, it's a classic iron...one that will be looked on fondly in the years to come.

As for the draw - has a lot to do with the shaft selection.

Ball-flight is mid, don't take the LT name too seriously :drinks:

I regard them one of the all time best players irons and they are durable in the finish as a nice bonus.

Feel is comparable to a forged CB, but I also play a tour-issued set :dntknw:

From my experience, the 2004 RAC LTs are one of the best irons out there, they will be more forgiving than your MacGregor 1025Ms but you'll definitely feel a difference in feel although the LTs are soft for a cast iron, they don't really hit the ball low but more like a mid to high trajectory. My handicap is 7.9 and the LTs helped me get there, but every now and then, I get into this madness that I can play forged blades or muscle backs, I actually played with the 1025M and 1025CM for awhile. After the honeymoon is over with the forged blades or even clubs like the MP 32s (quite forgiving), I end up going back to my 2004 LTs and things get back to normal. I practice a lot and even take lessons, for me, the LTs have the best of both worlds; traditional clean iron design with very little offset, great feel and forgiving. Hope this helps.

Couldn't agree more with this comment. I also play the 2004 model with DG shafts and love the feel and trajectory. Certainly not low trajectory, but the DG's keep the trajectory in control...at least for me. Pretty forgiving but I wouldn't consider them a game improvement iron. One of the best feeling cast irons around. Clean lines and minimal offset agrees with my eye. You don't usually find all these features in a club that is relatively easy to hit with the ability to also work the ball. Excellent for low to mid cappers but maybe not so much so for the higher handicap. I agree with the classic iron comment too! :dntknw:
