I think you may have tried it already, but Modus 115x might be worth a test. Played PX for a long time and I find Modus 115 to work pretty well.

Throwing out a Steelfiber 110 X-flex. I have Ventus Black 10TX in my 4 hybrid now. I remember trying the Steelfiber 110 X  in a Ping Crossover 3 about 5 years ago and they might be similar, but it's too far out to really compare.

 

My only real rub with the 10TX is that I can block it right (instead of my usual closed face over-rotate left miss) really easily if I put an easy swing on it sort of expecting my usual overcooked left miss. I do that less so with the 9-TX in my 3 hybrid.

Agree with the comments on L-Series.  The swing weight issue is pretty extreme with them which is weird because most OEMs make their stock iron heads on the lighter side.  The only ones that go heavier are Miura and Cally(tour issue dot heads), otherwise, Srixon, TM, Mizuno, etc. tend to be lighter.  My guy said he had to put quite a bit of tip weight to get his demo set to come out to D3-D4.

I had a set in some 2021 t100s.  I think they came out to be c8-9 at .25 or .5 over with a standard grip.  By they time I put a 60 gram midsize grip on I needed about 12-16 grams of lead tape per iron.  That seemed excessive and made for a heavy club.

Have you tried C-Taper Lite 115X if you wanted to go lighter? The bend profile is similar to the Ventus Black, which both are more linear with a slight drop in flex near the tip. Granted, CTL has a bit more kick under the hands but not that much farther away than the black does according to these EI charts.

I have not.  I’ve used the 130 version with some success but it’s been awhile.  I thought about trying a a set with 120 stiff.  Interestingly enough c taper isn’t a super low launch or low spin shaft for me.  More mid/mid but extremely stable.

 

ill pickup a c taper lite 115x to test!

I've learned a long time ago that going by EI charts is just the start, doesn't guarantee anything but is a decent place to avoid blind guesses.

 

Ventus black is pretty much the stiff-less stiff-stiff archetype, which would probably correspond nicely with Modus 120TX or Project X LZ 6.5 (or 7.0 if you are very fast). As for graphite iron shafts, MMT 125TX would likely feel similar.

 

I avoid KBS like the plague, so no insight there.

That's a good suggestion and a probably should revisit them if I have a chance. I tried them last year and PW-8 felt very linear and stiff, maybe a stiffer handle than PX 6.0, but then 7 and 6 had a little more mid bend like PX LZ 6.5 which I didn't love. They're great shafts though

Is there a reason why you don't really want to go back to the PX 6.0?

No, it's really a better fit for me at this point and I have my old pulls still in the garage. Just need to install them. I moved out a couple years ago when I had some injuries that slowed me down but I'm starting to be able to play more consistently healthy, bringing my speed back. I turn 40 in a few months and figured this is the life of getting older so putt off the change back. That was the only reason I hadn't done it yet.
