One length iron build and x7 shaft.

In my experience taking a regular set and modifying them to be equal weights the wedge through 8 iron launched much higher than when played at standard length and the 6 through 4 iron launched lower.  The 5 and 4 iron there was not much difference in distance for me.  So to your point playing a softer or even a higher launching shaft in these may help with getting your proper distances.  I have not looked into it for quite some time but I am pretty sure Bryson's lofts are not standard (4 degree).  Also I assume the manufacturers change the launch conditions throughout the whole set so the wedges launch lower and lower irons launch higher.

 

 

Not entirely, I would say. I think to have a stable feel through the set, ideally, you want to do that for the most part, yes. However, you might want to stagger the set in 2 or 3 different settings, depending on the heads you're using and the weight distribution you are using.

I went to PW as the baseline and then put a different weight in the longer irons to help a bit with speed control. Not sure what it is, but a tiny short long iron plays some mind tricks on you and although i was looking for "launch" i think it ultimately becomes "tempo"

Update: 

 

I’ve been able to hit the demo one length 9 iron (forged one length head, Bryson scoring wedge shaft, and jmx xl tour grip at 37.5 playing length) on the course in two rounds.  
 

for starters,  it’s easily the best combination of stability and ease of use I’ve ever swung.  Even warming up on the range it’s pretty easy on the body and effortless to swing.  My gamer set has tour v 130 x in some jpx tour heads and they feel heavy in comparison.
 

 The 9 iron forged one length head has 42 degrees of loft.  Stock shot is dead straight, medium height  (100 feet apex), 165 yards.  Controlling distance between 150-165 is relatively easy as is controlling tractory.  It’s almost feels auto pilot.  I caught my self using it from any distance I would hit my gamer pw-8 iron and I don’t think I missed a green with it.

 

based on this I’m going to forgo the the long iron test and grab a set of Avoda combo length with Bryson 125tx shaft and xl tour series grip.

Dope. I have xl tour grip pulls if u wanna save some coin. I would consider doing “5” flex in the sand wedge and lob wedge if I were you.  I think lagolf told me that’s what Bryson did, and that’s what I did and I like the extra flex for those touch shots

Thanks man.  I appreciate you insights in all this as I was building up my tester.  It was helpful and saved me some headaches/frustrations.

Been following some of drew coopers recent stuff he has been putting out, and along with this thread, I'm getting the itch to go down this rabbit hole lol. Would love to hear what you think about them if you end up picking up a set

I have not.

 

i do plan on it this fall/winter though.  I figure with their current lead times I wouldn’t be getting them any time soon so will head down for a fitting in the next couple months.  Will definitely keep the thread updated.
