Charley Hull press conferences are usually quite entertaining/ "no filter"

... some interesting Q&A on her prep / doing "3-quarter swing drills" to manage her trajectory/wind conditions / finding St Andrews a challenging venue, due to the "wide open fairways and nothing to aim at"... gave Sahalee as an example of a course that suits her game more/ easier to find a target to aim at). 

 

... today i learnt that she pronounces it "Bri'ish" 🇬🇧 without the glottal "T" (timestamp circa the ~0m20s mark):

i.e. when she mentioned "the 2010 British Open" (her words! i.e. rather than "the Open")  

 

...Lilia Vu was asked "what has been the best thing coming out from winning the AIG Women's Open"? (timestamp ~7m40s)

Answer: My dad bribed/ incentivised me, i.e. "I got a cat 😺[as a gift] after winning the Open... i named him "Walton" after Walton Heath... and i get another Cat 😺, if i win another Major".  ( <== Follow-up question: "What would you name your new cat, if you win at St Andrews? ... maybe "Andrew"?")

Concerned that the weather might ruin the spectacle. Was looking forward to this for a while and I'm hoping it wont be as bad as it looks.

 

Interesting that Ayaka Furue and Nelly Korda are joint favourites in the UK betting markets. Far too difficult to predict even without the added unpredictability of the weather but I do like Lydia Ko to do well.

Albeit i needed to do a search for Wind Stations near St Andrews (my guess = the nearest = "Leuchars" approx 2-4 miles away... i think this is the Bus Station nearest to St Andrews?)

Loving all the St Andrews pics. My one and only time there was in 2005 for Jack's farewell Open. Timed our arrival well to see the man himself striding down the 16th fairway. It's a magical place with an incomparable atmosphere. I hope the ladies enjoy it, whatever the weather.

Looks like weather will play a huge factor. On Thursday, wind will affect most players equally all day. However, on Friday at least before 10AM wind will be the 10s mph range rather than 30s mph range after 11AM. The players teeing up 7AM or close to it on Friday have a huge advantage.
