2024 PGA Tour FedEx Cup

All complainers should post their suggestions and rationale for why a change is needed and how their proposal is better.

If said proposal is "move the PGA back to August and then stop the season" (or similar) they should further explain why they simply don't just tune out and let people who want to pay attention, or want to see interesting golf after early August do so, without background bickering.

Scheffler's complaining so we know he won't win the FedEx Cup...... LOL!

Let's see how this ages....  🤣

He just wants to be handed $18M. And he probably will be.  But probably next year he's going to want to have a chance also, when he isn't leading by thousands of points.

Wow! I was wrong, I thought that they bumped it up to $25M....... LOL! misinformation.

Apologies to all....

So just like he did the last two seasons heading into the Tour Championship when he had the lead in the FEC. BTW what SS has said about the FEC playoffs recently he has been saying for the last couple of years. Doesn't matter after the BMW who is leading the FEC playoffs whether by 1 point or 5.000 points. They still only get the 2 shot cushion at the Tour Championship. Looking forward though to the yearly complaining by many here bout the TC being held at Eastlake every year. Even after the renovations to Eastlake. Just like Augusta it's a WRX tradition unlike any other.

Dreams are meant to keep you going through the darkness.

If the best player in the game (Scottie) can't win a tournament after receiving a head start of two shots,,,,,, then he doesn't deserve it.     imo

To the topic (I need wood glue from the horse!) - I’ve always thought it was dumb, the stubborn pursuit of the notion by Finchem caused all sorts of problems (and in a way led to issues relied upon rightly or wrongly by some in the LIV defections) some of which they’ve now basically admitted (they still won’t admit to screwing over the fans with the PGA move).

I can’t stand the starts so many strokes ahead bit just to keep handicap it in favor of the cumulative leader.

Won’t be watching.

Playoffs in golf are dumb.

Maybe they are to you and and you can't appreciate the entertainment value but🤣 just for context, you also might find dumb:

Pro Bowling:

“The pro tour playoffs include the top twenty-four bowlers in championship points at the end of the season. These bowlers are seeded based on total points. The top eight seeds get first round byes. All matches up to the finals are the first to three points.

Pro Football (NFL):

14 of the 32 teams makes the Playoffs (talking about dumb)

Four rounds and the #1 seeds All receive bye weeks

* Wild card round

* Divisional round

*Conference Championship round

* Super Bowl

~PS NFL a money grab but the most popular game in the U.S.

~If bowling can have playoffs, so can golf..... 🤣🤣

At first glance, not good.  Even if I disagree with some things that the PGA Tour has done, I still root for healthy professional golf.  However, we need to see these in conjunction with streaming numbers compared to last year.  The Tour administration hit gold when they negotiated the last TV contracts!!  I'll give them credit there.

All sports viewing is down in 2024...... the NBA playoffs were down 14%

NFL ratings were down due to kneeling during the national anthem....

2023 was a banner year for golf viewership and one of the most rating successes in years so, 2024 cannot be compared to 2023, maybe other years but not 2023.

As far as the 400% raise the PGAT got with the 2022-2030 contract. It was gold but a bargain for the Networks ...... IMO. PGAT $7B (9 years) and the NBA $77B (11 years).

The PGAT needs another renegotiation and another 400% raise in my opinion even with the decline in viewership. 🤣 IMO of course.

With a win, Bradley predicted to move to 4th in the FedEx Cup (coming into the week at 50)

Adam Scott looking to move to 11 from 41. Noren just inside the top 30.

Justin Thomas just outside top 30.

Nick Dunlap projected around 48.

With the Harman double on 18 JT is back in at #30…for now.

in golf I believe it’s a valid complaint about the courses.  Although as you noted with the East Lake course changes this year may be different.  Just as in baseball where teams are built, partly, based on their home field characteristics so their is the old adage of horses for courses in golf.  Some courses just don’t suit the eye of some players and can completely favor another. Having the FedEx finals at the same course every year definitely can favor some players over others.

That said… in spite of the math involved I liked the previous Tour Championship method better.  The one where the top 5 going in knew if they won the event the won the Cup.

That said the new method is easier to follow and good play all season is better rewarded.
