Ping or Taylormade for the rest of your life…

Fellow Wrxrs, been golfing for almost 15 years now, had multiple fittings over the years and I never got what was supposed to fit me, I’ve always been the dirtiest hoe and have quite a few sets of irons, tons of driver shafts, all driver heads imaginable, dozens of putters, etc. I was nasty deep in the rabbit hole until last month when my first child was born.

 

I sold everything and I mean everything but the bag, I made myself and my newborn a promise I will only buy and game one single brand top to bottom for the rest of my life. 

 

That brand will be either Ping because of how many good memories it brought me over the years or Taylormade because Rory has always been my idol. 
 

My decision will be made from what I read here, from whatever you suggest and the overall consensus in this post. 
 

So, if you had to game one brand for the rest of your life what would it be? Taylormade or Ping???

Ping. Historically, I loved their irons. Though not for the past few years. Lately, their drivers since the 400 series have been great. 

 

I went through a TM driver period in my life in the late 2000's but have not liked their irons (caveat, have not tried the P7TW blades). 

 

And perhaps time for a new golfing idol?

Having had full bags of each in the past and the specific stipulation; I’d say Ping.  As I get older I intend to leverage Ping’s forgiveness.

Another vote for Ping. The two oldest clubs in my bag are Pings.

Ping! Played them over the past 10 years they make great clubs and their customer service is second to none. Play a full bag of mostly Wilson now and I must say I’m impressed with the quality and feel. Never had an issue with ping clubs.

while I know a lot of people like Taylormade clubs, something about the company irks me. Could be I feel like the majority of the price of the clubs is in sponsorships, they’re marketing/tech seems gimicky, always have “new and better” models of things coming out, etc. 

 

Ping just seems like a more legitimate company to be spending my money on. And they pride themselves on being “an engineering company that makes golf clubs”.
 

They don’t put out a new product just because it’s a new year, and that just feels better.

Diver - Tie could find a great set up with both companies

Fairwaiys - TM, not even close. Ping fw’s are too shallow for me

Irons- TM, this will be an unpopular opinion

Weges TM, MG and high toe work for me

Putter Ping - PLD custom all day 

Bag - Ping Hoofer 

 

TM FTW, but could easily play a all Ping bag.

Ping for sure. Although I do not play every club from the brand I easily could and would. Driver to putter all are fantastic. TM is no slouch and a 3rd place behind Mizuno.

It would have been Taylormade, if not for the stupid carbon driver faces. So Ping, who also have less cringy marketing. 

Ping's main issue is that they're overall a bit ugly.

Correct answer is Titleist though.

I’ll go against the grain here…..Taylormade 

 

Respect Ping, the current president lives in my neighborhood and is a member at my club. The clubs perform well no doubt but sometimes you have to like the look of what you’re hitting and I don’t like the looks of any current Ping golf club except a few putters and wedges. 

 

Now, if they blacked out the woods, and offered more feel in their irons I could see myself playing a full bag.

TM, their woods and irons are really coming around. I was down to 1 TM club in the bag a few years back, now 11 of my clubs are TM. I would still want to use my hoofer bag though 😂

Im on a major Mizzy MP heater at the moment but if that ever fades, I’ll once again build a Ping bag. Sprinkled with some retro stuff and I’d play them all until they are groove-less. That’s what Ping does
