$62.3M in on-course earnings this year

Obviously, the highest single season by far in golf history. But also higher than anyone in the 4 major north american leagues.

Plus Comcast business top 10, plus PIP.

Great season but I still think Xander is the POY for winning two major championships.

I don’t think so now.

-Masters

-Players

-7 wins

-gold medal

- tour championship

-Fed Ex Cup

pretty hard to beat that even with the 2 majors bc the players think of the Players as a major and they do the voting

I recall Scotty constantly receiving criticism for his putting.  So Scotty improves his putting and starts playing like prime Tiger.   That was fun to watch right before my eyes.

The vote will be unanimous, or at least very close to it.

2008 was not better then this season lol.

Tiger won 4 times including the US Open on a broken leg and ended his season before end of June. His % potential money earned in 2008 was 78% to Scottie's 53%.

He was #1 in par 3 scoring, par 4 scoring, and par 5 scoring; something that hadn't been done since, you guess it, 2000.

His 50 round stroke differential average at the time was 4.4 which was almost a whole stroke better than Scottie's highest differential this year.

I don't know if it's a Haney coach era hating or Scottie riding thing or both but 2008 was up there with 2000 and 2006.

The 62M includes the Comcast top 10, but yeah PIP is still to come. Pretty sure he’s locked that up.

Correct, $62,228,357 + $10,000,000 (expect PIP) = $72,228,357 total earnings for 2024!

Not bad for a pro golfer...

On the other hand, Ronaldo gets $200M in crazy Saudi money in a team sport format but it's not really an apples to apples comparison.

The closest to individual play comparison would be Formula One’s Max Verstappen at $55 million but considering the risks involved in Formula One, golf is clearly the hands-down favorite between the two sports.

While I admit that golf is inherently boring compared to Formula 1 racing, the advantages are way better - the opportunity to play for at least 40 years from 20 to 60+ in a professional league (PGA Tour and Senior PGA Tour) compared to brief shelf life in racing, 10-15 years assuming that they're lucky enough to be still in one piece, risking their lives during every race.

from this article:

Scottie went 42 consecutive rounds without a round over par to start the 2024 FedEx Cup season and ended it top of 73 different statistical metrics, including:

Wins – 7
Top 10s – 16
Scoring average (adjusted) – 68.645
Strokes gained: Total – 2.496
Strokes gained: Tee to green – 2.401
Birdie average – 4.88 per round
Strokes gained: Approach the green – 1.269
Greens in regulation – 73.16%
Approaches from 100-125 yards – 14ft 9in
Approaches from 150-175 yards – 23ft
Putting average – 1.680
Putts made over 10ft per event – 7.7
Par 4 scoring average – 3.88
Par 5 scoring average – 4.42
Front nine scoring average – 34.09
Back nine scoring average – 33.92

This one is crazy: The average points gap between the World No.1  Scottie and World No.3 Rory McIlroy is currently larger than the chasm separating Rory and the last of the 4,609 players in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Yeah, but with his poor footwork and poor putting stroke, he will never be a consistent winner on tour...... oh wait....
