Club Data:

also comes with a remote control and swing stick

spin numbers appear to work best with marked golf balls.

it uses the radar 2 provide most of the data the camera does most of the spin data as well as provide shot tracer videos

I just pulled the trigger on a pre order for $669. Took advantage of Amazon Prime day and got myself what seems to be a good cheap mat and the Go Sports Range Cage Net. All in less than $1k for a garage setup with no subscriptions. Can't pass that up.

I have used it outside at dusk which seems to me the only time you can use it outside. I didn't use the provided dotted balls. I dotted a bunch of pro v 1 myself. I have to say the shot shape and yardage is exactly what I would expect from 4 iron down through gap wedge. When I go after a 7 iron its usually 165-170 yards of carry and when I lay off its 150-155 yards and that is exactly what I am seeing. Same with a 4 iron. I get 200 yards carry when I go after it and 185 when I lay off and that is exactly what I was seeing.  It didn't always pick up side spin but that could be the darkness setting in or the self dotted balls causing this. I didn't put on the club stickers yet for club data. For less than $650 shipped this is a winner. One issue. Second batch of devices seem to have bad batteries. I am expecting them to send me a replacement. It wont hold a charge.

Square has apparently moved up adding 'club speed' to the data metrics due to high demand. This is the only metric I feel that they're missing considering the they already have club path and face to path. Hoping this is sooner rather than later!

Does anyone know what the experience is for when lefties and righties try to play sim golf together?  I read somewhere, that someone had to exit the range each time to switch between left and right-handers on the range, but has anyone tried it on the golf courses?

Has anyone tried testing the Pix balls with the unit compared to what the standard marked balls give?  I'd love to know the difference since I play the TP5 Pix currently.

I've been told that the pix (and other marked golf balls) do not work accurately with the Square LM. Only the provided balls or your own balls with squares marker placement added provide accurate data.

Here are some screen shot comparisons using a $25k Trackman with the premium square dotted balls compared to my $640 Square using Driver, 4 iron, 7 iron and PW. I think I can handle the discrepancies here given the price difference of a used vehicle. Ball speeds were always the most accurate when compared. Square will continue to update the software and algorithm for driver and longer clubs as well as spin for all clubs. They have really good customer service and are very clear in their upcoming updates/releases and are very open to suggestions via the socials. I did have the club sticker on my 7 iron. The AOA was off a degree or so with the Square often saying I was more down than I was with the trackman. Inside out degree was a few degrees off. Dynamic loft and Face angle were really close to dead on.

for Square is "Direction" equivalent to horizontal launch (side) angle or club path? If its path... Then I would say it's quite a bit off.

 

One thing I noticed from reviews is that the provided balls are much lower spin compared to a prov1x, etc that most golfers might generally use. I already see folks who are making 3D printed parts so that you could use a marker or even some paint to put the pattern on your own ball. Somebody commented in the Squaregold subreddit that this will not work, but IMO there's no way this person could know for sure unless they've already somehow tried it.

I’d say yes about the spin. However I did purchase some of those vinyl patterns and should be getting them soon and putting them on some ProV1 and 1x to test out.

I've also heard that the RPT balls would work. My guess is though that Squares software algorithm is specifically tuned for the Square ball pattern, so using anything different might cause random inconsistency.

 

I don't see why using a 3D printed template + marker/paint wouldn't work on any ball. Probably not advisable for people hitting into screens but for those of us using nets, that should be fine.
