Seaview Bay or Shore Gate?

I'll be in the Egg Harbor area this weekend for a wedding and I'd like to take advantage of this opportunity to play a top 10 rated public course around the Jersey shore area.

 

I've already booked tee times on both courses for Saturday but would like gather first hand into from my fellow WRXers about the current conditions and or preferences before deciding which one to play. 

 

Seaview is rated as a #3 while Shore Gate as a # 7 but Seaview has gotten a bad rap these past couple of weeks from Google Map reviews. 

 

Seaview is obviously the more well-known track as the current site of the LPGA's Shoprite Classic but the bad reviews are giving me second thoughts.

Best advice I can provide is to skip both and grab a time at Ballamor.  You will not be disappointed.

Ballamor is a great track. Twisted Dune is also worth looking at. Seaview Bay is a pretty boring course. I've played it many times in the past. I don't believe it has changed much. I love Shore Gate.

Thanks, Ballamor was one of my top choices but they'll be aerating this week. 

 

Yeah, looking at the pics, Shore Gate looks better than Seaview and cheaper by $75... the only thing stopping me is the ranking #3 vs #7....

Wouldn't worry about the rating. Seaview is a lot of shorter, wide open holes with elevated greens. Shore Gate wanders through the NJ pines and is a much more memorable and enjoyable course. To be honest, I like the Pines course at Seaview more than the Bay.

I would stay away from Seaview.

Had a bad experience there in April 2023. Charge $125 for a round, with punched greens (on both courses) and in terrible shape. We played the Bay.

I played Shore Gate probably 25 years ago and remember it being very enjoyable. I also agree that you should look at Twisted Dunes. Great place.

My Seaview Bay Course:

Short, at best OK condition, buggy, and expensive.

 

Shore Gate, Ballamor, Twisted Dune are all way better.

Shoregate is the better course and much more challenging. Play up on the tees unless you are very skilled as that course can eat you up, but still a very fun course to play.

Another vote for any of those 3 over Seaview Bay.
