Garmin R10 on Sale in Canada

I have been struggling with getting an R10, MLM2Pro, or used Skytrak for setting up an over the winter indoor hitting area.

 

And of note, it is rare that LMs go on sale in Canada.  Heck, the Skytrak is $2,850 new in Canada right now, but USD$999 in the US.

 

But there is a pretty good deal right now on the R10 - discounted from its' "all the time price" of $809CAD to $669CAD.  On sale at many retailers including Best Buy, Sportchek, and Garmin direct.

 

May still keep looking for a reasonably priced used Skytrak (space reasons), but the R10 gives me a reason to hit balls in winter.

I have owned the R10 for two years and I'm very happy with it despite it's known limitations. Today I was using it hitting balls in a hitting cage at my club down under in NZ. A young man began hitting balls in the bay next to me and asked if "that is an R10?" He reckons his uncle who lives in Canada was on the design team for the original R10 and reckons Garmin is set to release a new device early next year. Quite an upgrade from the current model according to his Uncle. Completely random encounter and who knows if legit but might explain why the R10 is now on sale? 

 

Exciting prospect if true. I have remained loyal to Garmin and not been interested in any other devices these past two years but will definitely be looking to upgrade to the next Garmin iteration. Assuming it is still in the affordable price range.

I bet the R20, R30 and R40 all had some design, software and\or function issues so they ended up in the RBage.

I guess they added 10 to the number for each camera the R50 has over the 20.

I've been keenly awaiting the release of the new Garmin R50 but rather than an improvement on the R10 it is a completely different, upgraded unit that is competing with the top end higher price units. RRP USD $4,999. 

 

I won't be buying it at that price unfortunately.

I was having some regret buying my R10, especially as SkyTrak has come down in price in Canada (still almost $700 more), but did not expect the R50 to come in at top end unit prices.

Guess I'm suddenly happier with the value proposition on my R10.

would be good if there were some black friday offers from Garmin for this, but I dont see any. The price for the R10 seems more expensive this year than last 😞

Noticing with the R50 out, it seems to be on sale at every major Canadian retailer for $670 CAD (Golftown, Amazon, BestBuy).  GPS Central is even throwing in a sleeve of RCT balls for the same price.

Looks like it's selling for a similar amount (factoring in exchange) right now at Amazon.com @ $485 USD, so assuming the pricing is similar at other retailers.

Amazon.ca had the garmin r10 on sale for about 550 twice in a short period. It made little sense to me ad nonother retailers were selling below 700. I missed the deal and figured it was offered in error. About a week later it was back and i jumped on it.
