Christmas Season Golf near Fort Pierce

I am coming down that way for the holidays, and if I will be leaving New England weather behind I might as well try and sneak in a round or two while I'm down there. Any suggestions for courses I should try to get on within an hour or so from Fort Pierce? I'm coming with family but playing as a single so I can't imagine finding a time should be too difficult. Thanks!

As a single you should be able to get on PGA Golf Club's 3 courses within 7 days of desired day of playing (if not within 24 hrs).  The Dye and Wannamaker are the best of the 3.  There is a new course called Astor Creek that opened not too long ago.  Haven't played it but heard it still needs some time to mature.  But it's wide open and I think fairly easy to get on.

Sandridge in Vero Beach.  36 hole muni as good as any you will find up north.

Astor Creek is a pretty fun course. Some holes drawing inspiration from the templates. The course itself has been in good shape both times I played it. The surrounding areas are still raw. Probably best to play it before all the houses do get built up between holes.

Got back late Sunday night from my trip.  Played The Park on Thursday- what a treat- really enjoyed it.  Was very windy- 30+ mph winds but course was very playable.  The other 5 rounds were played at PGA Golf Club with 3 on the Ryder and 2 on Dye.  Wannamaker is closed til 11/1- they did all new greens and bunkers I believe.  Both the Dye and Ryder were in excellent shape overall.  Some of the bunkers need a little more work after all the rain from the hurricanes but overall excellent.  Greens are very firm but receptive and barely leave ball marks.

Just wanted to jump back in here to say The Park was awesome. Very fun track with difficult greens. Not sure I needed to play it from 7100 yards but I went with the flow. Great suggestion! Palm Beach Par 3 today.

The Park is a great course, the question is whether it is worth paying the green fee associated.  Is north of $200 worth it?  Up to the individual to decide, of course.  

 

Sandridge is a great suggestion.  South Florida walkable course.  I carried when I played it.  It was wonderful.  Only reason I haven't played it more is it is a hike from where we stay.

I haven’t played at Sandridge but believe they have two courses, correct?  Is there a main / better one of the two?

Yes.  The Dunes course is the one I'm told is better.  Haven't played Lakes, and don't really plan to until I lose a lot of distance.  Length is part of it(7,000 vs 6,280) but I believe the holes are just better as well.
