Electric Push Carts at Bandon - yay/nay?

Is it worth bringing an electric cart to bandon? I've heard "mostly fine, but on some holes you'll have to lug it manually"?

This is being discussed on the most recent page of the Random Bandon Thread.  Consensus is it's fine, but there are holes here and there that require an electric cart to take a pretty roundabout way, just because the large wheeled push carts there can be dragged up rugged paths or stairs, and the electric cannot.  I've never used an electric one, so can't speak for how steep they can operate, but I would think some trouble spots would be the walk from 3 tee at OM to the fairway, the walk up from 13 green at Trails, a few greens to tee at Pacific/Bandon.  No issues on Sheep.

I brought mine last March. No issues on the hill at OM3. No issues on Trails. Did fine on BD and SR. I didn’t get to the back 9 of PD so can’t comment for sure but I’ve brought a clic gear out there before and am guessing the electric would be fine as long as you’re careful.

Oh and I will say it was kinda difficult to lug on the truck on Trails between 13/14. I have the anti tip wheel and it got in the way, I basically had the whole cart/bag in my lap and held on. Lats for days.

Just got back from 5 days at Bandon. 0% chance I would ever bring my MGI Nav. Just too much sand and mulch along the way.

Just got back from Bandon, my playing partner brought his electric and used it on BD and BT.  Found it was a pain for the aforementioned reasons (sand, bark, the hill between BT 13/14, etc) and switched to one of theirs pushcarts for PD and OM.  He doesn’t plan to bring his electric back for the next trip.  YMMV

I've played all 5 Bandon courses with a MGI and had no issues. Four others in our group had them as well and they've done 6+ trips with them, also no issues.

I used my MGI last year at Bandon.  We played all the 18-hole courses but SH and it worked well.  There are some places you have to be careful and/or help it along, but all-in-all it was worth it.  I am bringing it again this year.

FWIW, I see more and more electric carts there every time I go.

I have an MGI Navigator & bring mine every time we drive and what I have found is you just put your remote in pocket and drive it like a roto tiller thru the sketchy, bumpy, hilly stuff otherwise you will be picking it up after it tips over all round. Just put it in drive and steer it up the hill. 
 

if you are playing 36 holes, have an adapter in your car so you can charge it while you are eating lunch. That insures it won’t die on you on 2nd round. 
 

Next month  I am going to ship it because I’m flying and you can’t put the lithium battery on the plane as it’s too big a battery. Have to ship it FedEx ground. I just got a 25% off Ship Sticks coupon so reaching out to them on how they proceed with it knowing it has to go ground.

You will want to verify that ship sticks will ship the battery as well

Ship Sticks cannot ship battery so you have to go directly thru Fed Ex

I’ll hop back into this thread. I’m at Bandon now, and after day 1 being hellaciously wet (the rain goes upward because it’s bouncing off the ground) I had to toss my cart remote in a bag of rice as it quit working. (Maybe I’m dumb and it just needs to be re-paired with the cart, not sure). Anyway I ran my motocaddy in manual streering for trails and pacific. Gotta say I like it that way for the lumpy, tight path courses. Hopefully I can get the remote back up for OM tomorrow though.

Oh boy. Weather has looked rough down there but looks like next couple days should get better. Hope that remote starts working tomorrow!

Just spent a week in Bandon and didn’t see a single electric trolley all week.  I considered bringing my MGI, but I’m glad I didn’t. I think it would have been a challenge a lot of places and not worth the hassle.

I've mentioned this in the RBT but I'll repost my experience.

 

I took a Alphard V2 w/ Caddytek Tour  (4 wheel front swivels). Like most have said it was mostly fine. The whole setup cost about as much as I normally spend on Caddies and I still walk with it today so thats a win in my book.

 

That being said , I will never take it again. For how my group does Bandon (Feb, 1 round a day + preserve or shorty) I can't stand having to break it down to get on the shuttle to range, then back on the shuttle, etc. I finally got kind of smart and just took it to the next course ahead of time but that would really be a pain if I was doing 36.

 

If I had a rental car or my own car maybe different but packing an electric cart in and out of the shuttles is a huge pain.

Just got back from bandon. Did not end up taking my electric cart. 

 

I thought the rickshaws worked just fine. Hauling carts off and on the shuttles is what deterred me and I have no regrets!
