The Left Dot is just different

I know this will generate more hate than positive responses but so be it

I played with the left dot yesterday for 9 holes and played the 2023 prov1 with the other 9......many people say these balls have much of the same tech, but i can tell you from playing the left dot last year and this year, compared to any other ball in the Titleist line up, including the left dash, this ball is just different.  Its more explosive, i was easily 15 yards longer off the tee and around the greens, the prov1 was slightly better with control for me, but i scored better with the left dot.

I wish titleist gave up all the info on this ball because my 3 balls are left dot, v1 and left dash. Ive experimented with all three for two years now and the left dot is easily the best of the three for me.

Left dash is is supposed to be the longest ball in the lineup but its not for me. It flies higher and its long but its not a great all around ball for me.  Left dot is just different and i wish i knew what it was.....

Ranking

Left dot - 9.8

V1 - 9

Left dash - 8.5

I agree the Left Dot has some secret sauce in it. It is the perfect ball for my game but with the limited availability I gave up. I seriously doubt we will see it offered again at retail and that's a shame.

They have said that for 3 years now. The only way that it could become reality is that Titleist has enough over stock that by the time the rollback happens they’ll have a bunch of balls that are no longer conforming.

not true. They make this ball and you can get it through certain pro shops and through the ball plant shop after you take a tour.

Yep. In limited quantities. And not as readily available. It’s a CPO ball, it’s not meant to be readily available for a reason. Not exactly “released”.

Per the head rep for our region--- It will not be retail, but anyone that goes through a tour ball fitting and gets fit into them can order through their pro shop.

It's been my primary ball for 3 years.  I currently have 8 dozen left dots.  Did the fitting and order like normal through my pro-shop.

These balls are special for those of us that benefit from them.  For most, they will see no benefit and may hurt their game.  They launch lower and spin slightly less than a standard pro-v1 across the board.

the fact titleist can sell so many golf balls and yet not bring the left dot to retail must tell you something...other manufacturers will copy it and bring its performance in a stock ball of theirs (to hopefully steal some titleist ball players) but it might not "feel" the same so people will dismiss it...either that or the placebo affect will say it's not like the left dot because it's not scarce...I'm sure if you're on this website you have tried out a bunch of different golf balls and if you can't see the similarities then me telling you what it is won't change your mind. the reason I don't play this ball is the same reason I don't play the left dot...they do the same things lol

Anyone have extensive outside trackman data to show how different (or not) the left dot is to the standard ProV1?

Trackman and GC3.   We have both.  My son has the Trackman--I have the GC3.  I don't have screen shots, but have been watching this for the past 3 years.

It's not a massive difference.  With a driver at 117 SS average, fairly neutral delivery ( -1-+1 AOA, -1-+1 face to path) it launches .5 to 1 degree lower and 200-300 rpms less spin.  Slightly flatter ball flight across the board.  Feel is slightly firmer than a standard ProV.

The spin differential gets wider when you get to partial shots.

I can easily play a bunch of other balls, but as long as I have these available to me I will play them.

Nonsense.  Titleist manufactures these.  The people on this forum are the only ones that even know about this ball and any hype is just perceived due to those of us here.  Our rep said he rarely gets asked about this ball.  I'm the only one at a club of 500 full time members that plays it.  There is no real hype.

I think what the poster is implying is something like the chrome tour achieves the same thing as a left dot with a different name.

In reality the left dot isn’t going to magically reduce someone’s scoring average anything statistically significant over a similar ball.  Mentally someone may prefer the ball to another and enjoy it more but that’s about it.

the exception to this may be they tour pro that contractually obligated to play a ball from titleist and Titliest only.

Interesting experience.  Amazing how technology effects each of us differently.  DASH -ProV1x affected me similar to how the Left dot affects you.  Left dot is very difficult to find here in SOCAL.  DASH has slowly developed a following, but Left dot hasn't... go figure.  From what I heard, Left dot is ProV1 on steroids.  I am not sure why Titleist isn't making part of the line-up yet it's listed on their ball title page.

Left dot is almost impossible to get unless you take a ball plant tour or know a golf shop pro who is a certified titleist dealer. They can get them for you as well

I still have a sleeve left from that limited online release years back.

Got the max 2 dozen and sold the rest at $100/sleeve which is pretty fair market value at the time but still mind boggling haha

In so cal too so no ball plant near and I have not played it in a bit cause too scared to lose them.

But I compared it just to a lower spinning v1 or the left dash version of v1. Driver distance between all is unremarkable on course but iron play is where it can be seen with the lower flight

Even tho it been proved that higher compression ball spin more it is still hard to comprehend the feel off a wedge of a prov1 compared to the x versions. The feel of the microsecond of the ball sticking the wedge something I miss when playing an X ball and same with a putter.

Question for the folks who went to the ball plant. What I gathered is that the construction of the left dot is exactly or very similar to the v1 but has the dimple pattern of the left dash which gives it its low launch characteristics. Is that the case?

If so it is so easy for the ball plant to churn them out but obviously is some executive decision holding back a full public release.

With the upcoming release of the 2025 V and X, it appears by all accounts both balls will be more spinny/higher flying than the ‘23 versions (many of the tester reviews I’ve read are experiencing this as well as posts on Titleist Instagram of pros acknowledging the same).

I’ve always been a player fighting high launch/spin/peak height and have bounced around between Pro V1 and Left Dash for the past 3 years. I’ve been intrigued by the left dot since the limited release back in 2021, but was never able to get my hands on them to test. Although I’ve never tested the ball, I can’t imagine that it would not be the ball in the lineup that best suits me. While answers on current/future availability differ among Titleist reps/club pros and Titleist Customer Service, I can’t help but wonder why the ball is still in their lineup on the website, albeit unavailable for the majority of the time after the 2021 limited release.

If it is indeed true that Titleist is increasing launch/spin/height in the new V and X models for ‘25, I wonder if they will re-release the left dot and make it part of the full lineup. It would seem to make sense, now that the lineup could look as follows :

Model : Launch/Spin

Left Dot : Low/Low

Pro V1 : Mid/Mid

Left Dash : Mid-High/Low

Pro V1X : High/High

If they do release the left dot, that will be my new gamer. If not, time to stock up on ‘23 V or switch to left dash, as I can’t play a higher spinning ball.
