The Left Dot is just different

With the upcoming release of the 2025 V and X, it appears by all accounts both balls will be more spinny/higher flying than the ‘23 versions (many of the tester reviews I’ve read are experiencing this as well as posts on Titleist Instagram of pros acknowledging the same).

I’ve always been a player fighting high launch/spin/peak height and have bounced around between Pro V1 and Left Dash for the past 3 years. I’ve been intrigued by the left dot since the limited release back in 2021, but was never able to get my hands on them to test. Although I’ve never tested the ball, I can’t imagine that it would not be the ball in the lineup that best suits me. While answers on current/future availability differ among Titleist reps/club pros and Titleist Customer Service, I can’t help but wonder why the ball is still in their lineup on the website, albeit unavailable for the majority of the time after the 2021 limited release.

If it is indeed true that Titleist is increasing launch/spin/height in the new V and X models for ‘25, I wonder if they will re-release the left dot and make it part of the full lineup. It would seem to make sense, now that the lineup could look as follows :

Model : Launch/Spin

Left Dot : Low/Low

Pro V1 : Mid/Mid

Left Dash : Mid-High/Low

Pro V1X : High/High

If they do release the left dot, that will be my new gamer. If not, time to stock up on ‘23 V or switch to left dash, as I can’t play a higher spinning ball.

Very much in the same boat with all of this myself. Left Dot sounds like a true unicorn for me, even though Left Dash has basically been that for a couple years now. I don't struggle to create launch, so that low/low profile would certainly make for great testing at the least. Liked the AVX when it was still in the premo line-up, but felt a tad squishy was all.

Maybe some day eh...

anyone hear why they are producing them anymore, it just seemed like they were liked a lot...

They still make them.

Titliest says the prov1, 1x, and left dash fit something like 95 or % of players so they focus their retail efforts there.  Makes maintaining stock and availability of the balls easier.

I think what the poster is implying is something like the chrome tour achieves the same thing as a left dot with a different name.

In reality the left dot isn’t going to magically reduce someone’s scoring average anything statistically significant over a similar ball.  Mentally someone may prefer the ball to another and enjoy it more but that’s about it.

the exception to this may be they tour pro that contractually obligated to play a ball from titleist and Titliest only.

I will say that left dot and CT aren't really all that similar if that's what the "poster" is implying or trying to convey.  CT is hot as in a few more mph ball speed wise and spins less across the board when I tested it compared to left dot as I finally did get on a launch monitor to compare both.  The first sleeve of left dot I got from my retired teaching pro were all sacrificed into the woods, lol.  They do share similarities however when it comes to launch and feel off putter.  However, I do agree that the left dot isn't going to magically help most golfers drop their scores significantly.

dont get why they dont put left dot in production for good, its a much loved golf ball, and they can make a mint off of it

Because Titleist believes it only fits a very small percentage of golfers, they have limited production capacity, and most players are well-served with the Pro V1 or Pro V1x.

Bingo.

people don’t realize it’s not ease to maintain stock levels of multiple products at retail stores globally.  And when stuff runs out of stuck people whine and complain …..remember when the left dashes would frequently go out of stock and all the rumblings about it?

most people just don’t need it, and even fewer see any scoring benefits.

The scarcity drives its popularity. If it were widely available, most folks would realize it's not a magic bullet. It is a great ball and I enjoyed playing it, but I don't have the swing speed to really take advantage of it.

There's less than a handful of guys on Tour playing it - Jake Knapp, Tony Finau, Cam Young.  The target audience is players with that kind of speed.

I think what it comes down to (again) is that darn Titleist  script. It just exudes excellence, and therefore confidence.
