Would you buy a Linkslegend bag again?

How's the club tangle been for you?

Not perfect but never really bothered me much.

I got a Hoofer Lite as a tee gift at an event earlier this year and it’s finally kicked the Linksmaster out as my regular travel bag.

Lighter and better organization plus it’s a sick looking camo bag with personalization.

I have enjoyed my white Linkslegend for the past two years.  I’ve been eyeing up the black and white one.

Do you carry it a lot? How's the weight and club-tangle?

I looked at the LLs again this past weekend at PGASS. Man, the top opening is TINY. Such a good looking bag, but inexplicably narrow/tight.

Honestly I don’t carry much, so the weight has never bothered me.

There is definitely tangle, but I have managed.  Nothing is perfect.  I would buy again, and probably will.

My other choice is a Vessel but I have read too many quality control problems with them.  The new one looks great though especially with the cart strap pass through (not sure if that’s a new feature?).

I've gone back to the standard Titleist 5 way stand bags, I love the extra divider for the wedges at the bottom.  I have tried some of the other nicer bags like the Premium Stand Bag and some others, and I keep coming back to the standard 5 way bags. No club tangle and light. I wish they had a little bit more storage, but they just work best in general. I'm keeping my premium stand bag for extra/old clubs.

I can deal with a heavy bag and if I walk, I have a push cart. But that club tangle gives me rage. I can't STAND that.

They are nice looking bags, but too expensive for me. I’ve been very happy with Sun Mountain 3.5s for a long time.

So as a LL owner/user for the last 2 years, I went back to SM2.5 this fall as I was tired of the club tangle (use mid size grips).  The other day, while at golf, Galaxy, saw the 3.5 and think it could be quite possibly the perfect bag.

I’ve had just about all the bags. I currently have a Jones and a LL and love them both. I use a push cart and ride. The tangle is similar on both but not a deal breaker for me. I appreciate the smaller opening of the LL because all my clubs stay tighter together and don’t rattle. I get more tangle in the wedge compartment than any other spot. Vessel has just gotten too big and the VLX is as small as the LL with less pocket space. All the other premium bags are just too gaudy. I’ll probably buy another LL in a few years as my club stocks them and they’re just too accessible.

Bought a Links Legend Members bag a few months back.  Used it twice and I’ve been trying to sell it since.  Probably the worst bag I’ve ever owned.  If one intends to only use it as a cart bag, and I mean driving cart - not trolley, and you don’t mind firm/rain zippers, it’s a nice bag.  Anything else, it’s awful.  I honestly feel like I got taken by Titleist and that they should recall these things.  The leg system is horrible, the club tangle is a nightmare if the bag is on the legs, and the zippers are way too tight.  On the plus side, the faux leather is really nice and the strap system is really good.  But that’s it.

I’ve been trying to sell mine for half what I paid for it and have no takers so far.  I may just burn it.

Thank you for your honesty. That's exactly where I suspect I'd end up quickly if I were to get this bag. So I'm not going to.

No problem.  I’m typically a Titleist zealot, but these bags are just terrible.  I feel bad for anyone else who got taken by buying one of these.

I do like my Links Legend bag, but I only use it on a cart, it’s more of a multi day tournament bag option. I like the ease of a sunday bag for both carry or use a cart. It’s lite and I only bring what I need that day. The club tangle has never bothered me and the only bags I’ve ever seen without this problem is a 14 club design, but I only carry 11 or 12 clubs.

I've finished a second full season with the Linkslegend bag. Allow me to start with a brief story. My first Linkslegend bag showed a good amount of wear after a full season. So much so that I emailed my head pro (where I bought from) simply to inquire. Without really asking or saying much, I received a new replacement a few months later. So that was cool. Good customer service from Tileist. I know OP decided against the bag, but for anyone else I'd suggest a cart strap cover. I didn't fall for the expensive ones from Ghost Golf or Vessel, and instead bought seatbelt cover from Amazon which works perfect.

Now to the bag itself -- it's a good bag. But for $400 it should be a great, or an awesome bag. So allow me to share my positives, negatives, or any points of contention:

  • It is heavier, and I carry a lot. One of my other hobbies is multi-day backpacking and I know the importance of pack placement. A lot of people carry their bags far too low. It needs to be as close to your body/lower back as possible. Once you get the right placement, the weight isn't really all that noticeable and it is comfortable to carry.
    • I would imagine this is why the top looks small. A good carry bag should have a smaller footprint because the weight (center of gravity) needs to be as close to the back as possible. A bag with a larger top and footprint will field more unwieldly and heavier because the center of gravity is further away.
  • The design and material is great. I went with a specific motif and paired the white bag with some brown leather winston covers. All I ever received are regular compliments.
  • The water bottle pocket is awful. If you carry, it's impossible to actually carry a water bottle without it falling out.
  • The rangefinder pocket is also pretty useless. I use to own a Callaway 300 Pro rangefinder, and stowed it in this pocket before it was stolen. The 300 Pro is one of the smallest rangefinders I've ever seen, and fit in there perfectly. I replaced it with the Nexus Pro rangefinders, and it's just a bit too bulky/big for the pocket. It has fallen out of it twice, on the course. I would not risk using that small/slit pocket on the bag. I really don't know what else I'd repurpose this pocket for.
  • Aside from the 2 useless pockets above, I'm good with the other pocket designs. I honestly don't carry that much stuff with me.
  • Grip clog is a real issue. Even with full length dividers, you have to have the bag completely upright to avoid any issues. So if you carry, set the bag upright and pull your club.
  • The legs on my first bag were an issue. They didn't really sag, but I always felt the bag stood too upright. So on slight uphill slopes the bag may fall over. My replacement bag sits slightly lower and I haven't had an issue yet. So lets chalk this up to QC.

Would I buy this again? Not for $400. I'll continue to use it next season, but only because it's in great shape still, I'm not wasteful, and boy does it look good on the course.

I recently sold my LL and replaced it with a Vessel Player V, which has legs that actually work, no club tangle at all, and better zippers.  Love the storage features as well.

That said, I’m actually really struggling to see where these bags excel other than in style.  They’re too big and heavy to be a great carry bag, and there are better hybrid cart bags out there.  My Players 4 Carbon is a way better carry bag and my Hybrid 14 is a much better cart bag and range practice bag, and it’s also lighter than the Vessel if I wanted to carry it in a pinch.  I think these faux leather ‘carry’ bags are great looking, but they’re just so compromised in function compared to other bags.

EDIT:  Right after I posted this, I pulled out both my Vessel Player V and my Titleist Hybrid 14 and emptied both.  Hybrid 14 is noticeably lighter.  The clubs fit better in the 14 and they present better when the bag is on the legs.  I can see every club in perfect stagger, and can pull and return them easily, which I love for when I’m at the range and rolling through the bag quickly.  Needless to say, all my stuff went back into the Hybrid 14 for my round tomorrow morning.  Going to have to decide if I even want to keep the Vessel.

It sounds like really the only positive to these bags is that they look really nice. I also require that my bag look nice to me -- but if I can find a bag that looks good AND isn't heavy, holds a water bottle, doesn't promote club tangle, and isn't $400, then that's where I'm headed.

Thanks for the feedback.

I bought the linkslegend this past spring and I think I would buy it again.  The main reason is b/c there's not a ton of options for a premium bag that you can easily carry.  It's 5.3lbs and really isn't all that heavy when you compare it to other carry bags unless you prefer a smaller superlight bag.  I carry most of my rounds and I found the straps to be very comfortable and better than the vessel lux I was looking at.  The vessel lux also had a smaller opening and although tangle seemed to be slighty less I hated how small the opening was.  I also liked the finishes on the LL better.  For the LL, I use midsize grips and although there is some club tangle, I don't find it to be a deal breaker.  Pro Tip:  Stand the bag upright when taking out a club and do the same and give it a little bump on the ground when putting a club in before putting it on your back.  It's a 2 second move that elevates most tangle if you're a walker.  Now, If I was a rider or used a push cart then I would just buy a bigger premium option like the vessel player series.  With that said, I found the LL to be the best premium option for someone who carries.

I ride 95% of the time. With the bag standing straight up, club tangle has hardly been an issue.

The 5% I walk, I have a caddy so club tangle and weight isn’t my problem. 😂

Agreed, but if this is the use case, I.e, primarily a cart bag, Titleist would be well advised to make it the same size as the new Vessel Player V, so it actually functions better.  The LL bag is basically a prettier, worse performing, version of the Players 4.  Why not make it a bit bigger and more functional and swipe a ton of sales from Vessel?  I see more people carrying Vessel bags than the LL, so it’s not like Titleist would lose sales if the bags were a little bigger.

Even our pros at the club who have these bags admit that they’re pretty awful.  I’d buy one again in a heartbeat if they just made it a little bigger up top and fixed those legs so that they actually keep the bag upright.

How has the white color held up for you?

So not the original poster, but I have had a white one since October of 22 and it still looks great.  I occasionally clean with a magic eraser which takes out any marks (do this once every 6 months or so).  The only area of wear, where the cart strap contacts some of the piping on the sides.  My course is riding only, so the wear is minor given it has probably seen over 100 rounds during that time.

So as I posted about a month back, this thread gives a pretty accurate assessment.  Club tangle is a problem (I play MCC4 midsize and a Super Stroke putter grip), but not enough for me to move away, and given that I ride 90% of the time with the bag straight up, it minimizes it.  Haven't had any problems with the legs on the times that I walk and carry.  Like the pockets and storage options - I am pretty minimal but more than enough room when I travel.  If I was looking to get a new bag - a new one would be in the mix as an option.
