Bag mapping - feedback welcomed

After taking almost 2 years away from the game, I've been back at it for the past 5 months.  It was evident that a bag mapping was necessary and I'm glad I did it.  First, let's lay out some details:

 

• Wedges: Vokey SM10's - 50* / 54* / 58*, DG S400 shafts
• Irons: 2021 TCB's 4 thru P, DG120 X100 shafts
• Woods: TS2 8.5* driver with AD-DI 6x shaft, TS3 15* w/ Oban devotion 7x, TSi3 18* w/ AD-TP 7x
• Been doing the Stack workouts over the summer to get some speed back
• Coming soon - did a fitting with Titleist 2 weeks ago and will be receiving shortly a GT3 10* w/ Ventus Black TR 6x, GT3 15* w/ Ventus Black TR 7x and GT2 21* w/ Ventus Black TR 8x

 

Open to feedback on the data below - the biggest 'ah-ha' to me was how close my fairways distances seem to be.  Happy to answer any questions.

My carry distance on irons is exactly the same as yours. Swing speed is the same.

 

I hover around 108 clubhead speed on driver tho. I can pop the occasional 111-112. I need to figure out why I lack, what seems to be, about 4 mph in driver speed.

A couple things stand out here.

1. The 9 iron spread is a bit confusing, I would take that number with a grain of salt. Looks like a couple mistrikes are bringing down the average, same with the 8 iron honestly.  I wouldn't read too much into that area.

2. You are not really swinging down at the ball at all and are actually swinging up with your 6 iron. That will make it difficult to strike the ball consistently.

3. The 5 wood and the 3 wood look to be a confusing spread as well. You are turning over the 5 wood more than any club, adding a bit of distance. While the 3 wood is spraying quite a bit, making me assume the strike is a bit all over the place. Also back to the angle of attack, you should be striking down on your fairway woods. I

My current mental issue/blocker is being able to take the speed I see when working on Trackman and bringing it to the course.  Work in progress for me.

Great observations - I'll dig into the details more w/ the 8i & 9i and the angle of attack w/ the 6i.  You nailed the problem I'm experiencing with the woods - can't wait for the new fairway woods to show up as the shafts/setups with my current woods are all over the map.

The angle of attack across the board is probably too far up. Tour players are consistently between -4.5 and -2 and are about -2.5 with fairway woods. This is going to lead to quite a few low point issues along the way and, with the fairway woods, just make them almost unhittable as if you are swinging up your low point is behind by the ball by default.

I've got a lesson next week so it will be curious to see if AoA is a swing or setup issue.

Maybe have someone check the lofts and lies on your irons. If one or more is slightly off spec it could be causing that bunching others have noticed.

 

It seems like your fairway woods do the same thing, with the five wood having a draw bias and maybe the three wood fading a bit. You could probably drop one of them and grab a hybrid or driving iron for more versatility in trajectory etc.

That was going to be my suggestion, your 5W is eclipsing your 3W so if you feel like one or the other is more consistent then keep one. Find something that carries 215-220 maybe? Like a 7W or Hybrid.

I'm happy to share that with my new fairway woods configuration I'll be dropping the 5w and adding a 7w.

This is the first time I've seen or heard of bag mapping.  And I must say, I'm very impressed.  That is a very revealing visual representation.

 

How/where did you get this done?

You can do this pretty much with any launch monitor - it just happens that I did mine on a Trackman.  I started out with the wedges and worked my way up to the driver - hit 8-10 shots with each club and took the best average 5 (threw out the shanks - slices/hooks/etc.).  Trackman's software does a really nice job of pulling together all the details - and I have direct access to the details via the Trackman website.

Not sure if all LM software's have it, but Foresight has it in FSX 2020.  You tell it what clubs you want to hit.  It let's you hit a few and you pick your fav's and discard others.  Go to next club.  In the end, you print the report.  Obviously, you could do it manually with any LM.

Well the new Titleist woods have come in and I'm really happy with the results.  Still working on swing improvements/issues, but will say dropping the 5w and adding the 7w has been the best call.  I'm getting a solid 225-245 yards out of the 7w depending on how I want the shot to play - it even worked great when I choked down and smoothed it for a 210 yard approach (it was during my first hole with the club, and I normally would have hit my 4i, but decided to baptize the 7w for it's inaugural swing on the course).  During my first round with the 7w on Saturday I probably hit it 8 times and found it super versatile. 

 

It's also nice to have the same shaft (though different weight) across the new woods.  The Ventus Black TR is great and now I have a better sense of feel consistency across the woods - versus what felt like a mis-mash previously with the 3 different shafts/profiles before (I told someone it was like dating 3 different women - no consistency from one club to the next).
