How much play and how deep are the holes on the original blue brick?
I have an angle drill guide so I made a quick prototype out of wood with 3/8” holes and 3/8” walnut dowels for the sticks. Just took it to the range and it was working great until I tested what would happen if i hit a stick and eventually broke the end of the dowel off in the hole.
Lesson learned, figured it was too tight a fit so for the next go I’m thinking a 1/2” drilled hole should work better and allow the stick to move out of the hole without breaking.

I don’t have a 3d printer, but have friends who would print for me but still think I’d prefer this out of wood since I can tinker with the design and my kiddos will be using it. Curious how rigid these 3d prints are and how the strength compares to the original? What’s the recommended software to view these models and just pull measurements…tried a free web based stl viewer and it was clunky. Haven’t watched all the training videos yet to see ball positioning for the different setups so initially would like to just make a wooden version of the 3d file to test out.

Thanks!

Just printed one last night as well & came out great overall.  Thanks so much for creating & posting the model!  Used some PETG-CF I had laying around, 15% infill with really the only change from my default settings was triangles as the sparse infill pattern but that’s something I’ve just been using in general for most prints.  Had some stringing on the inside tops of the weight pockets which really isn’t a functional problem and I suspect is either from this filament or my print settings/configs.  Not entirely sure as I’ve just gotten started down this 3D printing black hole 🤣  I’ll likely print this in another color with a pause added in the slicer for when it gets to the text to switch colors to get contrast for the text.

I’ll update with feedback if I come up with improvement ideas or remixes.  Having a way to stabilize beyond simply making it heavier is the first thing that comes to mind and I think someone might have made a comment suggesting that already.  Are you planning to post to one of the 3D printing sites like printables, thingiverse, etc?

Do you have the print file you used?  I can’t wait to make one of these. TY!

Love this model, thank you so much!!!

I was able to print V3 on my P1S using PETG. If anyone needs help, I'm happy to give my settings.

A couple of minor issues:

1. Cannot find sticks that fit

2. The 3 RH swing angles seem to be labeled in reverse order.

3. What size screws are people using for the base?

Did V4 address any of these issues?

I chamfered the holes, fixing the left handed angles and holes. 5mm screw holes. all the yard markers(lowes, home depot) should fit properly, or the printable ones provided.  some scaling maybe required depending on your printer.

Thanks for the reply. It’s really great.
I think i was still looking at V3, the angles look right on v4

I did find 3/8” wood dowels work great for the sticks.

unfortunately, im not a golfer. Just a crappy engineer. If everybody can gather a list of issues. I will address them accordingly. So please give constructive issues to what is wrong or people what would like changed and I will modify all the issues (or most). I can also give the community the STEP file so people can remix as they would like. Everyone please add what you'd like to change!!!! If the community does make changes please create a remix on printables for everyone to use!

Great of you to offer.

After doing some research,

1. Take the V3 DR-6i-SW holes from the LH side and replicate them on the RH side. The SW and DR angles are flipped on both sides in V4. A driver is the longest club, so u need a shallow angle. The most "upright" angle should be for the wedge. You had this correct in V3 on the LH side only. So i think you may have just corrected the wrong side. The DR is labeled at 48 degrees, which is correct, but it is above the 72 degree hole. That goes for Right and left sides.

2. I found a file (https://makerworld.com/en/models/1287867-cord-end-caps#profileId-1317454) on the bambu site that makes a nice little end cap for making your alignment sticks. I simply scaled it down to 64% size to fit the sticks/holes. Just run some elastic string through the stick, tie a know in the cap, add the lid and boom.

from the site:

After poring over reams of launch monitor data, I discovered that when hitting a 6-iron, all pros swing at or just under a 60° plane coming down.

When you are using a wedge, the slightly shorter shaft makes that plane a bit steeper.

But the significantly longer shaft of the driver makes a professional swing plane at 45°.

Which is why I built the Blue Brick with different slots to match areas of your game you can work on...

Does this look correct now?IMG_1119.png.d15a102cdbc72b4b50c1d74f601fda74.png

yep!

the only other thing I can think of would be a version with holes for the real collapsible alignment sticks. I think most are about 9mm, but they all seem to have the tips on them that make them a bit over 10. My measurements were the same as the person mentioned earlier. Using the aluminum driveway markers is tough, because they can damage your clubs. You will definitely hit this thing while working on your swing. If not, your stick can work great too. I just made them longer so I can use fewer sticks, which keeps it straighter.

For anyone without a 3D printer that’s curious, I got two quotes for ziggy’s specs from local printers and both were more than $150.

for that much.. I’d rather spend a bit more and buy an entry level 3D printer and do this myself. Plus now you have another rabbit hole hobby to dive into.

Unfortunately, not all sticks have the same diameter. The holes are 8mm pre print. I can try to increase the hole diameter a bit if it becomes a big issues. Thanks for letting me know!!

what if you just keep the print and just scale it up like 1-2% and see if the sticks fit? Seems better than sanding the tips of those fiberglass alignment sticks.

what? Not a golfer? How’d you end up on golfWRX? Wow, prototyping and mods is hard work.. especially for someone not addicted to the golf life.
Thanks for doing this!

It’ll be the first thing I print, whenever my new printer arrives! Debating giving this a go on my older printer, just for kicks. What are you using for weights in the base? Pic looks like lead cubes??

im and engineer  and all of my friends golf. He had one of the blue bricks so I just made my version. Unfortunately, I've been in another country for the last 5 months and haven't had them test it out, to see the issues. not even sure how I got to the thread, maybe google or something. anyways, if the community has other ideas of anything I'm willing to take a stab at modeling it for ya'll when time permits. send a photo or drawing and i will try and make it happen if its something people find useful.

Well, thanks again for doing this. I loaded up your STL onto tinkercad. My old 3D printer, for some reason, is stopping prints at about 80%, but I can sometime "trick" it into finishing, by adding a small vertical component that I can later remove. It's like a ghost vertical "support". Anyways, I usually just add this in tinkercad, but for some reason, I can't add the base STL to tinkercad. It says the mesh is too complex, and tinkercad mesh has to be under 300,000 triangles. I'm trying to simplify this with web resources, like selfCAD or meshy, but I'm new to those.. just got suggested those websites by chatGPT. Anyways, I'll sort it out, or just wait for my new 3D printer to arrive. Thanks again.
