Causes for concern: 
1) At the time of this post, I've owned the wedges for exactly 27 minutes. My first round of 2025 will be my first on-course shots with them. But they look so damn good in the bag beside my irons that vanity might prevent me from changing. 

2) The SLDR mini driver. It hasn't done anything to make me consider changing, but I'm drawn to the newer models that have adjustable heads so it'll be tough to resist the urge to get one that's easier to tinker with. 

 

Prediction:

2025 is my year to make a deep run in the BISC. I will finally experience the sweet taste of victory and play some great golf!

Causes for concern: 

 

1) I somehow convinced myself of the idea that I need more offset in my clubs after looking at Langer's clubs for too long. In this spirit, I bought the irons and wedges with the most offset that I could find. Given that I have never seen these clubs in real life (they are currently on their way from Japan), this could make for a tough awakening in early Jan.

 

2) Putter is always a concern and I would be astonished if I make it to the middle of the year with my current one.

 

Prediction:

 

I typically play one round in the freezing cold in January. The chance that I switch something after that round is high.

I didn't buy anything last year, but I rotate between 15 clubs so I'm automatically disqualified.  I routinely pull my driver and insert my three wood when it goes through its annual "wild" phase.  I only use the PM 60 in green side bunkers so occasionally I'll swap it instead if I'm feeling stubborn. 

Planning on purchasing a OZ.1 before my first outdoor round this year, but besides, that, I'll be set again:

This is absolutely nuts as I am an inveterate tinkerer.  I've also found a lot of things about my golf game changing in my 50's including becoming left eye dominant (I'm RH).  But despite getting settled on irons/wedges/putter last season, I still have yet to solve the top end of my bag. 

To help with this, I've ordered two new clubs on "post-Christmas" deal, even though there is a foot of snow on the ground right now.  I won't even know if they work for me until I do my first "golf activity" for the year, at which point I'm locked in. 

 

Well, Lord hates a coward, and it's time for me to quit dating and settle down with a nice girl.

Causes for concern

I actually like the pedantic nature of the challenge; quit changing clubs and play the ones you have!  But after sorting irons and wedges last year, the top end of the bag remains a concern, and I'm committing to two clubs I've never hit.  And also the Sigma 2 shaft in my putter has gotten a bit wiggly.
Prediction 

I'm riding this train ALL year.  And if successful, it'll be the first time in over thirty years I've had the same bag at the beginning and end of the same season (back when I was a poor, and played hand-me-down Campbell clubs).  

 

Last Edit Jan 8/25 - Driver bought on "demo deals" showed up with an unexpected shaft.  Yay.

Maybe the first time that I’ve got no desire to make any changes:

 

Driver - TSR3 10 degree with a small shallow dent in the crown (barely noticeable). Diamana GT60X playing at 45 inches

4W - TSR3 16.5, Diamana TB70x playing 42.75

4H - TSR2 21 degree hybrid playing at 20* with the stock hzrdus black

4I - 2021 T200 with AMT White S300

5-GW - 2019 T100 with AMT White S300

Wedges - SM9 55(S)/60(M) stock shafts

Putter - Odyssey Versa White Hot 7 Double Bend

 

edit: Only part that may change is dropping from a X to a S flex (same shafts though) in the driver and 4 wood as I recover from back surgery.

There will most likely be a Titleist GT280 Mini driver in the bag as well.  The Sim Max2 is my sons club and he's going to keep using it after some testing with other clubs.

Cause for Concern

I have played this setup since mid/late spring of this year so to go all the way through the end of 2025 w/o making a change is going to be tough. Especially since I vowed to put a fairway wood in the bag this year.....I guess my UW is going to have to count....now for now.

 

How long can I make it?

Honestly, I love my current setup so it would be easy for me to make it the entire year. But what fun is that?!! My birthday is 6/11 and I just might give myself a new set of irons, driver or 3 wood and maybe all 3. So I'm giving myself until 6/11.

And I personally carried wedges with too low of a bounce (costing me strokes) for over a year, just because they were very sexy.

I went back to very stiff in the irons cuz I don’t know, they just feel right (right now). This bag could change tomorrow or not until June, but odds are against me making it a whole year-by a wide margin. I mean c’mon, I know me.

I pulled my 3 iron and put an Adams DHY 3 in it's place. Other than possibly buying a Ping driver at some point, I don't anticipate any changes this year. I would like to spend my money on quality rounds than hardware this new year.

My old wedges were preowned then used by me for another 3 years so I'm way overdue for fresh wedges. The BISC just pushed me to making the change.
