I enter every year. I think once I’ve made it to February. 
 

Anyway, I had my first activity of the year yesterday, so the final lineup is:

 

TM Qi10 with RDX Blue (ordered the club with the RDX Red, but Blue ended up staying in)

 

Mizuno GT 180 3 wood with a Tensi Blue

 

Callaway Epic 18° 2 hybrid with a Recoil ES shaft ( I think that is the model, club has been on the bag for a while and most of the markings are worn off)

 

Ping G410 22° 4 hybrid with the stock Alta shaft 

 

Mizuno JPX 900 Forged irons with Project LZ 5.5. 
 

Callaway Jaws 54° and 58° wedges. 
 

TM Spider X. 
 

I might last for a while this time. Weather is going to be cold for a while, probably won’t play for a while.

Causes for Concern

 

Only 12 clubs.  If I develop a gap we did not identify in December’s fitting, I will be out like Shout.

 

Bold move entering with clubs that won’t arrive for about six weeks, but I can’t see getting on the course at all in Jan and Feb so I’m not worried about an early exit.

 

Putter is the major concern.  Last season I went side-saddle for the majority of the year with a sweet Bobby Grace.  I am an adaptive player and intend to enter more events this season.  If my L (minimal function — all I can do is putt, nothing else) arm touches the club, I have to move back a tee box to a different adaptive category.  In some events the difference is 800 yards!  That is a lot of golf course, so I’ve gone to traditional putting stroke with my R arm only.  Intend to stick with it because of the adaptive category concerns, but if I revert to side saddle then I’m DQ here.

Prediction 

 

I make it until our invitational in July.  Greens will be borderline unfair speed and I’ll go back to side saddle for that event.

I’m sold on counter balanced putters, x7m way better than Jailbird Cruiser 

 

Asking for a friend … would it be hard to do this for 365 straight days?

 

(I will be flipping some g400 tipped shafts to Titleist tomorrow after my morning round)

Love this thread, but since I'm already formulating an order for Hi-Toe 4s to replace the new Vokeys I bought late last season to replace the Hi-Toe 3s that were "it" the year before I don't see the point of typing out my whole bag, lol, only to surrender in a couple of weeks.  Last year I made it to the end of February but unexpectedly bought my first set of Mizuno irons. I got fitted for the Vokeys and got talked into a lower bounce 52 which was a big mistake (yes, I could just get a different 52 and I might, haha, but man I really like the turf interaction on the regular grind of the Hi-Toes and got used to the extra grooves and a little more versatility, the shafts were just too heavy).

Alright, I’m in:

 

Driver: Mizuno ST-X 230 10.5*, Kai’li Blue 60S, turned all the way down to 8.25*

5W: Cobra Aerojet Max, Kai’li Blue 60S, turned down to 17*

3H: Ping G425 19*, Alta 70 Stiff, turned up to 20*

5-PW: Mizuno JPX 923 HMP, Modus 105S

Wedges: SM10 46F, SM5 50F, 54S, and 60K (bent to 58*)

Putter: Odyssey Versa Seven S

I would say putter is probably the most likely to take me out. I actually like the Odyssey and putt well with it, but I’m annoyed at how badly the paint job is holding up. I baby it, and it’s still got a bunch of paint chips after half a season.

 

I’ve got an itch for a nice, milled mid-mallet and might just give myself a Bettinardi studio fitting for my birthday this year. That would take me out next month.

 

Driver is also sort of in the hot seat, maybe just the shaft. I played the 50g Kai’li blue last year. I decided to cut down to 44.5” and increase the weight to 60g this season. Not sure it will stick.
 

My SM5’s are still hanging in there. Due to a long golf hiatus, they probably only have 30-40 real rounds on them.

I haven't actually gotten to play any golf yet this year being only 5 days in..... so I guess I'll be able to last past the 6th of January......

I did realize after all of last year's changes, I have a significant amount of newer shafts and stuff to sell. It also helps that I've initiated a strict budget freeze for the next 3 weeks.... hehehe

I've had some epic failures at this thing, but you're making me laugh, wince, blush and cringe simultaneously. I don't know what this feeling is, but I think I'm enjoying it.

You can change the bag, balls, grips, and cosmetics of your clubs as much as you like.  This "challenge" has a lot of different meanings to different people, but the main gist is to see how our game works if we play the same shafts and clubheads for an extended period of time.

I'm Seinfeld this year - I'll be out soon and was never in, haha.  

 

To your point, what season I had last year was pretty consistent with loving the new irons (not even a stray glance at anything else) and still loving the driver (third one the season before) and the 3w, 7w I'd gotten the year before and again, not even a thought to changing either - so unparalleled stability.  I'm still a wedge fiddler!

I will not hold strong for long as I need to change up a lot this year. I need a stronger lofted 3w, 5w or 2ir, different shaft in the 3w (Ventus red launches to the moon), need to change up gaping in irons which will lead to different wedges. I predict I will have a completely overhauled bag by summer. Oops. 

This didn't last long. New irons, 3w and 5w inbound.

I'm still waiting for everything in the top end of my bag (excepting the 3W) to arrive. 

 

I likely won't be on the course until May, but I do have a budget sim set up in the garage.  As soon as I take the D, 5W, and 4H out to hit 'em I'm locked in, so might as well go with it.

 

Made sure I hit my old clubs on New Year's Eve to make sure I was unhappy with them.

 

Oh, and since signing up for the challenge, I have sold one set of irons, one putter, and two drivers.  The less temptation around, the better.

I’m with you there!  I’ve shipped off the following to Second Swing:

If they have ‘em, I can’t be tempted to put ‘em back in play.

The only risks I have is I’m tempted by a g430 max 10k driver, but considering my first round of next year is 4th of Jan I still have two weeks to decide which is in. Other than that I’m confident in my bag this year lasting the year, everything has been changed in the last 2/3 years and is fit for me now and I’ve been playing well with it all since middle of last year.

Well I haven’t swung a club since Boxing Day and won’t be for a bit as injured my shoulder. So it looks like this is my bag set.

Correct. Played I’ve played 3 rounds this year and haven’t changed anything yet, however stuff starts rolling in this Friday. Too cold to play for the next week or two so may make it outta Jan!

Ok - no reason to delay. Had two indoor rounds. Mini drivers are gone. 5 & 7 Haywood fairways in. Cobra Max K will be purchased after release. Irons, Wedges and Putter are safe, but it’s only January. See you in 2026.

I have a rules question as I hope to someday actually participate here.  I have yet to do any golf activities in 2025, and plan on ordering some clubs soon.  If I order only enough to have 14 total in my bag, I qualify until I change something after playing?

Used up some squirrelled away gift cards and bought some new grips. I panicked before double checking the rules and making sure I didn’t out myself. Fresh grips will make it that much harder to switch out a random club.

Constantly having to acclimate to changes, it gets to be a burden to my game.

Well, the challenge just got more interesting.

 

My "demo days" Dynapwr Carbon driver showed up yesterday, and SURPRISE!  It didn't have the stock Velocore Blue shaft.

 

I knew this was a possibility when I ordered the club, and I thought "Well, worst case is it shows up with a PX Smoke Red RDX shaft", one I play in some different clubs and like.

 

But no, darn thing showed up with a PX EvenFlow Riptide S 50g shaft in it - a shaft I only used once and didn't like.  This isn't even offered as a fitting option by Wilson through their website, and the bloody thing is only 50g.  Gargh.

Just made the challenge much more interesting.  @Dan Drake I think I'm allowed to use lead tape under this challenge, correct?
