2025 Bag is Set Challenge (BISC) Thread!!!!!!!

Well I’m still in, but after yesterday’s disaster with the spider I may be out after the next round. My Scotty is currently sat in my bag and if it goes in the car next Saturday I’ll be declaring I’m out.

 

I’m also well aware it’s me not the club that’s at fault as the spider has been brilliant since I bought it, but it sits better in my head if I blame the putter.

I’m holding strong, 2 whole rounds into the year.  IIRC, I’ve never made it past March, so there’s a chance for a record performance this year!

 

That said, I am not above reproach because I didn’t “set” my bag officially.  I’ll have to ask the committee for a ruling………

So far this year, I have managed to not change my driver or 5 wood.  Tempted to get a new driver shaft though.  5 wood is holding strong.  Was this bag challenge for keeping all 14 the same or 1 of the 14, haha.

I have set my bag up and still have had zero golf or golf-like activity in 2025. 😡 No range, no indoor sim, no play. Hi of 50 tomorrow so thinking that will change…So here goes.

Well, the clubs are all still the same after 2 March rounds, BUT...

 

I seem to have completely forgotten how to hit a golf ball with these clubs.  I've been tinkering with the settings on the driver this week and adding lead tape to the fairway woods.

 

Am I out?

Officially out. I’ve been trying to make the lab broomstick work for the last 5 months and just couldn’t get comfortable with it. Took my Newport 2 out for a spin and was happy to pick the ball up out of the hole on a consistent basis.

No sir, you are not out.  As long as the same club heads and shafts are in the bag, you are good!

 

Lead tape, adapter setting changes, ferrules, grips, paintfill, etc. are all encouraged!

Recently ran across a NOS Nickent 4dx pro hybrid with VS proto 85 hybrid shaft, almost acquired to forward on just so @Dan Drakewould be out of challenge…decided against it because didn’t want to be the dude selling hot Krispy Kreme across from Jenny Craig. 😂

Personal note for next year... don't estimate a BISC date past the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. 

 

2.5 months is a really solid BISC result for me, but it's going to be extremely tough to make it through after-work driving range sessions, the Master's, and trying every company's new mini-driver offering without a change. Add in me struggling to hit my driver well, and why am I even still fighting? 🙂

Dude, the only reason I'm still in this thing is because work and life have me not playing golf.  There is a "realistic" scenario where I give this thing a reasonable go one year, but it's going to require a very specific set of circumstances to have it happen.

I could have honestly done it this year if my driver was cooperating. I'm still holding out a little hope that my range session doesn't show a difference and I can keep the current driver in the bag, but I'm preparing for a work event in 2 weeks and I'm getting desperate. 🤣

You requested a ruling!

Setting a bag in March should be considered fine - especially as you used the exact same bag for your first two "golf activities" of the year.  I believe you had suggested futzing around with multiple clubs until May or June was a bit offside, and I fully agree with this.

 

I mean I'll be out in the next few weeks when I give up on my "shaft roulette" demo driver, and drop in an 65g Aldila Rogue Elite shaft to replace the POS Riptide 50g shaft it came with.  Just need the adapter to arrive.

Well I’m now officially out as my new driver arrived and I traded my old one in. March isn’t bad considering I was out by accident in about three days last year! 
 

So as I’m out I’ve also swapped my five wood for another hybrid and swapped a different putter in too 🤣
