2025 Bag is Set Challenge (BISC) Thread!!!!!!!

I’m out. Decided to swap putters today from what I had in the bag to.. something else, jury is still out on what though, and a late Christmas present (5 wood) arrived today and that’s definitely going in the bag..and.. playing with driver shafts again… but in my defense only messing with shafts I already own.. probably.

 

also I hit 3 different sets of irons this past weekend, not because they were going in the bag but just because I’m doing some work on them and wanted a baseline, not sure if that even counts as failing but if it doesn’t the other changes do lol.

I've never been more confident that I can make it this year.

I'm toast as of 09:23 this morning.

 

An absolute bargain set of TM P7MC put pay to the HMP and a new Cally BB B21 5 wood shifted the Mizzy ST200 out.

 

Hopefully that is it and I can see the year out.

Back set early December….today, new RTZ wedges on the way, new irons arrived, getting fit for the Darkspeed Adapt driver next month and will have the Deuce when it’s available. Yup bag set alright 😳😝…but for real this time I swear 🤔

 

Only thing saving me I haven’t had any and won’t for a while golf related activities 😝

Out of the country over the New Year and inclement weather in the UK meant a delayed start to the golfing year with a realistic chance and a fierce determination to keep my bag unchanged into February. Hah, how the golfing gods like a plan. 
 

On Friday I assembled my bag and headed to the range for a quick warm up and then out for my first round. Irons of choice 7cb with 105s MMT, 6-pw and 2024 770 5 iron. A set of irons I can see me playing right up until when the Mizuno S3s are released. Started my usual warm up, up the evens pw, 8, 6, hybrid and down the odds 5, 7, 9…. Mmm 9 iron feels different. Different because it is different it’s a P7mc, same shaft, similar grip (golf pride Mcc 4 but in standard not align). Sunday Rd 2 and the p7cb 9 iron is in the bag and the P7mc is back in the garage. How I laughed.

Ok here's my 2025 entry.

100% gonna fail because I like to rotate putters, only playing for fun, but am going LAB in the top spot.  Currently reshafting irons and wedges at home after liking the feel of DG120s on course last year (switching from a long time with C Taper Lite X). 13 clubs might make it through 🤞

 

 

Going back to an old blade SW for its size/shape around the greens (had CBX Zip but wanted to go more compact), but sticking with the CBX Zipcore LW that's magical 😄.

 

Two 7 irons have the same club length but the distance gap is good, and the ease with the stronger 7i is a little better than my old set's 6 iron.  It's actually a good blend for me of newer stronger lofted players distance irons with more traditional lofted players irons.  The rogue SGI 5 iron is staying in my 4 iron spot as it's kind of like a players hybrid, just in iron shape while feeling and looking good to me.  Not for the OCD faint of heart, this bag!

I was never in, cause I knew it wouldn’t last long since I was on a golf trip around nye and also knew that some changes are coming. Those are done, and I couldn’t be more happier (atm, haha!). 
 

As soon as I found my putter (haha!) I’m ready for BISC 2026!

I am also still in!  There's been snow on the ground and many goings on at work, so it's been a different sort of dry January for me.  Now that I think about it, I believe it's been the other dry January as well, but who's counting? 

 

1 month down, 11 to go.  Good news is, I haven't even hit a range ball yet, so I can change my bag up any whichaway I choose!!!

Most likely playing my 1st round for 2025 on Saturday. Since I set my bag, I have bought:

1. New driver...still need a shaft...

2. New irons

3. New wedges (not here yet)

4. New putter (not here yet)

 

What's the odds I tee off on Saturday with nothing new in the bag....🤔

I have lists with spec charts of almost all of my sets back to 1997

I am confident that my clubs will stay the same all of 2025. Only thing for me that is in danger of changing is my iron and wedge shafts I kinda want to try something lighter. Also my woods and driving iron shafts might be in danger. Possibly changing from xstiff to stiff. But as for clubs my bag is set unless I can trade my driver and 3 wood for a Titleiat tsi diver and 3 wood. My clubs are safe.

 

My 14 year old is turning 15 in February most of his bag is safe except for irons. He is looking for a set of Titleist irons to match his driving iron and wedges. But his upper part of the bad, wedges and putter are safe. His new Taylormade putter is arriving 1-29-25

I used to keep one to track the modifications I was making to my clubs so I'd remember when I sell them. 

Also, it helped me remember what I already tried so I wouldn't fall in love with the idea of a failed project a second time.

Never even tried entering this challenge in the past but as I'm actually trying to get better this year, I have vowed to not make too many club changes. That being said, I currently have 4 sets of irons. But, I believe choices have been made.

 

Driver - Qi10 8* with Ventus black 6x

3W - Qi10 15* with Ventus black 8x tipped 1"

7w - Qi10 21* with Ventus blue 8x tipped 1" (will probably tip this another inch to bring down spin and tighten it up a bit)

4-9iron - Ping BPS with DGX100

46* - Ping i159 wedge with DGX100

52,56,60* - Callaway Jaws Raw with DGS300

Putter - Ai-One 7CH 

 

Potential issues

Wanting to put the Srixon UT 3 iron back in the bag on tighter courses or if I start having issues with the 7 wood.

Changing my putter out. The putter that is currently "in my bag" doesn't exist as it's waiting for a shaft to show up. However, I am confident it will go right in the bag. However, there's always a chance I will go back to my Odyssey White Hot double wide CH.

Locking in the Bag – Michigan Golfer Edition

 

Some of y’all are already deep into the season, and here I am just setting my bag. Living in Michigan, I envy anyone who even has a reason (or lack of one) to switch things up already. But with a simulator session lined up this weekend, it’s time to lock it in.

 

I’ll list my setup with the club, shaft, and a "Level of Risk" (LOR) for getting replaced (1/10 = safest, 10/10 = most likely to go). Plus, a quick note on why each club stays—or could get the boot.

 

Quick note: I carry 14 clubs, but swap out one depending on course. On tight courses or windy days near the water, I swap my 3-wood for a driving iron off the tee. If that disqualifies me from the "official" game, so be it—I need it for tournaments and, honestly, it will still be fun just to participate in this post.

 

Driver - Callaway AI Smoke Max – Aldila Rogue 125 MSI 6X – LOR: 5/10
Hitting this better than any driver I’ve had in years. No itch to try the latest and greatest. That said… it’s still a driver, so you never know.

 

3 Wood - Taylormade Stealth 2+ – Ventus Black 7TX – LOR: 6/10
My go-to bomber off the tee under the driver. Doesn’t get a ton of play but is super long on more open courses. Gives me 280 off the tee and is a bit more comforting to look at on tighter shots. Could be replaced if something new wows me, but the versatility of the adjustable weight keeps it pretty safe.

 

5 Wood & 7 Wood - Taylormade Qi10 Core – Ventus Red 7X – LOR: 1/10
These are absolute cheat codes. No closed face like older core models, near perfect weighting, super forgiving, and launch is effortless. Staying put.

 

Driving Iron - Callaway Apex UT 18° (bent down to 16°) – Ventus Blue 10TX – LOR: 3/10
Only comes out on windy days or really tight tracks. Launches low, runs forever, and slots between my 3-wood and 5-wood for distance. It’s a bullet and rarely goes right or left. Safe.

 

Irons - PXG 0317T Bent 2° weak – PX 6.5 Rifle – LOR: 7/10
New irons, transitioning from years and years with true blades. Loved them at the fitting, they look really clean (almost like a blade,) and feel superb, but if I get too many unexpected jumpers, they might not last. I've hear that isn't an issue with these like it is with older filled models. Fingers crossed. 

 

Wedges - Titleist SM9 (46° & 50°) – PX 6.5 Rifle & Titleist SM10 (54° & 60°) – Modus Tour 120s – LOR: 1/10
Vokeys have been in the bag forever. Had a brief fling with Callaway wedges last year, didn’t love them. These are predictable and reliable—irreplaceable.

 

Putter - Odyssey Micro hinge 7s – UST All-In – LOR: 8/10
Been rolling a Newport 2 for 14 years. Picked this up at Carl’s Golf Land, felt great, aligns well… but is this true love or just a fling? We’ll find out soon enough.
